The end of the AGE is coming within 5 to 10 years, maybe sooner. The Age of Esau will end, and the age of Jacob will begin, 2 Esdras 6:9.

The end of the world (kosmos), when HIS WORD is at His end, and since that is never, the 'world' or 'kosmos' will never end. THE AGE will. SOON!

It really depends on your frame of reference. Scientifically, the world will end in a few billion years when Sol- our star- exhausts its nuclear fuel and goes supernova. Sol will expand, absorbing Mercury, Venus and Earth before finally shrinking. It will either then collapse under its own gravity and become a black hole or a Brown Dwarf star. This is of course assuming that humanity hasn't been destroyed by war, plague or asteroid impact before then.

Religious works, such as the Bible, states that the world wont _end_ when Jesus reappears but will in fact be transformed into a paradise. Of course, this will only happen after the pain and suffering that will occur during the battle of Armageddon and the Day of Final Judgement. Nice(!) However, we may actually already be in the End Times as we speak.

If we assume that Jesus was born in 0AD (something which the mistakes made by the Gregorian Monks has made impossible to ascertain), then the year 2000 would indicate the start of the End Times. The book of Revelation states that the Antichrist will take control through lies and deceit. George W. Bush, so-called "leader of the free world" come to power in 2000 through vote-rigging and downright corruption. As President of America, the world's only superpower, Bush could be seen as leader of the world.

The Book states that "no one will be able to buy anything, not even food for their children unless they carry the mark of the Beast". The Bible says that this mark would be on the back of left hand or the forehead. Literally, this hasn't happened. However, the consumer debt of the Western world is currently so bad that without credit cards most people simply cannot afford to live.

The Bible also makes reference to a great plague sweeping the land. While we've yet to discover a plague caused by scorpions with women's heads, we are overdue for a world-wide outbreak of influenza- an outbreak that would cause the deaths of millions of people.

Global Warming aside, which is a apocalyptic threat in itself, the current situation in the middle east with Iraq, Israel and the Arab nations can also be interpreted as another sign. I'm not going to be so insensitive as to claim that what happened on 9/11, 7/7 (for Londoners such as myself) and elsewhere in the world was part of a Satanic conspiracy. Iraq is however home to the site of the supposed Garden of Eden and the Middle East is also home to Megiddo, a mound in Israel, widely believed by scholars to be the alleged site of the final battle. If Bush is the Antichrist, then current developments in that region are rather worrying.

This all being said though, we are talking about a series of writings written other 1500 years ago and as such all things like this should be taken with a pinch of salt. Earth is an ancient planet and whatever happens to us, it is sure to survive.

We are not seeing the end of the world but rather the end of an age.We are now moving into the sign of Aquarius and there are some very high energies now entering our planet and galvanizing all humanity into some kind of spiritual activity of some kind. There is so much crap that must be left behind as we all make our way forward in this life. The major theme for the new age is that of sharing and justice for all people around the world. We are about to see the reamergence of the great World Teacher who will lead us all into a new age and his personal name is Maitreya. He is the elder brother of all humanity and as well as the first flower in the human evolution and is as well the long awaited Christ and is known under other names around the world. He is here to lead us all into the new age and to have a hand at the construction of a high civilization in which we all can live our lives to the full.

edit: Asteroid Shower tonight around 10:00 p.m. cst The show heats up after midnight and by dawn on Friday morning, Dec. 14th showing dozens of bright meteors per hour streaking across the sky.

Geminids are not ordinary meteors. Most meteor showers come from comets, but these Geminids come from a near earth object called 3200 Phaethon.

depends how you define 'end of the world'

the sctual destruction of the planet will probably be in 5 billion years or so, when our sun engulfs the earth as it expands, on it's way to becoming a white dwarf or whateer they're called before they explode.

if you mean the end of humanity, well probably not for a long long time, and even with some (no doubt religion inspired) massive destruction, SOMEONE will survive, even if it's just a few people clinging to a rock somewhere.

maybe then we'll succumb to the influence of evolution once more (no medicine, technology etc) then when will 'people' not actually be homo sapien any more. ooh, now there's a thought!!

The Bible does NOT teach 'the end of the world,' but that Jesus Christ returns to SAVE the world from itself, and a new age of felicity and eternal blessedness will be ours.

I don't have any bad news for you, because the Bible is full of GOOD NEWS!!!!

Within this century. The world won't end. It will still be here. A vast majority of our spieces will be wiped out. There will be something big that happens, and we will lose most people, but the earth will remain, and if we're lucky some humans will survive to carry on our spieces in our new world. :) Perhaps this is what the bibles are referring to.

When the Sun becomes a red giant and swallows up the Earth.
Even if Bush pushed the button tomorrow the planet would still be here, even though we may not be.
