Followup to my question regarding existence of God....?

Question

many of you said that one must be delusional or ignorant to believe in something for which there is no scientific proof. ok.

i believe in my mother's love for me, though i have no scientific proof of this.

so what things should be taken on faith, and which should be scientifically proven, and how will i know the difference?

this is a philosophical debate, not a religious one, so let's keep it clean folks.

I think that the experience of love is as real as the experience of God. But this doesn't mean either exists as an objective entity outside of the human mind.

Nothing should be taken on faith, only reason.

Simple: go to a dessert without water. Throw away the keys of your car. Call god and your mother for help. See who shows up.

It is an experiment that can be repeated (which it should be in orde to be scientific) untill your mother tells you: This is the last time!.

Why you need proof of faith. Nobody denies the existence of faith. What comes under attack is that believers impose their faith on others.

You could at least make the attempt to measure your mother's love for you, as strange as this may sound. You can rationalize this love with biology, you can find pychological and even biochemical evidence for this motherly love.

Nothing, absolutely nothing should be taken entirely on faith. If you want to convince me of anything, you do not need exactly proof, but you need to give me a good reason to believe you. Preferably a reason which does not just rely on wishful thinking.

I don't think one must be ignorant or delusional to believe in god, although it does help, I just think the person is misinformed and not given all the information required to make an informed decision.

The existance of God should be taken on faith, but the reasons to prove that the doctrine is historically accurate and other historical proof can be taken scientifically.

I'm guessing since your mom raised you, that's probably some level of proof right there of that love. She obviously took care of you enough to the point you received an education, a roof over your head and provided you with the electricity and computer for you to type out this silly little question.

Ask your mom for $50... and see if she gives it to you, then go out and asked someone you don't know or hardly know for $50 and see if they give it to you. I'm guessing your mom would give you the money because she loves you, people who do not know you or love you will think you are crazy for asking.

Love is an emotion, not a divine thing in anyway. As such, love can actually be monitored. More importantly, your mother is an actual person, and having faith in people is not the same as having faith in something you don't even know to exist.

If you have had a miracle or you have been touched by goodness and you know it is beyond human explanation, then you will know God exists. It is easy for people nowadays to go about believing that God does not exist because technology has become god to them...whatever they can't see...touch....feel....take apart with their hands or explain scientifically or otherwise(which brings them face to face with their limitation in knowledge) because they don't want to feel "vulnerable or "stupid"...they discard it as non-existence. They wake up in the morning feeling....Oh, the beautiful sky must have magically appeared all by itself....the green grass...must have magically appeared all by itself....the mystery of childbirth...it happens magically by itself....the plants and animals...all magically appear by itself. They would rather believe in the existence of Santa or the tooth fairy, or vampires first before they turn over the idea of God's existence in all things first.....Nuff said.

I hate the label Atheist because of the fact it brings a unfavourable connotation to those that have self belief in no God. God is so relative to maximum of persons. God could desire to be information (that is what i think in) the ever-contemporary NOW.
