Hi guys,

I have access to a 4 exhaust emission analyzer. Assuming that it can measure HC,CO,CO2,O2 in parts per million, how can i calculate the corresponding air to fuel ratio?
Would really appreciate if anyone can recommend me additional website or books to refer to.

We know that fresh air is 21% Oxygen and we know that the average gasoline molecule is C8H18. From the CO and CO2 concentration you can establish how much gasoline was burnt per unit of exhaust gas. By measuring the Oxygen level you can determine excess`air was present. Convert moles to weight and calculate the ratio.
