no, because there will always be a few people who think they are better then every one else and will break the laws or safety rules and regulations.
not always, i have talked to police who have unbuckled dead people from cars. Flying glass cut the face and neck all up. as well as broken necks from motor cycles, sure the head was fine, some were not attached to the bodies.
good point, when its their time to go, there is no way we can save them.
God is in control, as much control as we let him to be
stupidity :)

Does seatbelts or helmets really save lives?
Yes, they do! They are a means to an end - to save lives.
How do we know that someones clock doesnt run out and will be in the right place and time to die.
We don't! Nontheless, we still have a duty to prevent death as much as possible. The sixth commandment says: "You shall not murder". That's the sin that is forbidden. The duty then that is required is: the protection of life; this includes yours as well as others.
Is this called faith to believe God is in control?
God, in his wise providence governs all things! He works with the means, inspite of the means, above the means, and/or without the means.
What is it called if you think you have control? through safety?
If you're asking whether you can have TOTAL control by the means expressed, then the answer is: DECEIVED!

When I was 17, I was in an auto accident. The force of the seatbelt that kept me in my seat burned across my chest, eventually clearing up. Two different doctors told me that if I had not been wearing the seatbelt, I would have been thrown through the windshield, and likely killed. Much to the chagrin of many, I'm still alive.
I'll choose a seatbelt over a Bible any day.

God certainly predetermines certain things and death I beieve is one of those things. But I also think that He predetermines the means by which people die and so maybe the safety programs are His plan to place the death of some people at a certain time. Just like you mention about the seat belts: Many people have died becasue they were wearing seatbelts. you can't outguess God.

Read the statistics. It is abundantly clear that most safety programs are effective.
Seatbelts and helmets DO save lives.

Don't use seatbelts, airbags, helmets, shoulder pads, safety goggles, protective gear, or safety shoes. Don't take vitamins, don't get shots for tetanus, polio, flu or any other diseases. And what ever you do, don't look when you cross a busy street. Remember - god is in control and all is in his hands. If you're in the path of a big rig, its probably just your time to go.
Yeah - religion! Thats for me!
Geesh!

Yes - seat belts and helmets DO save lives. I believe in both predestination AND free will, which is why it is said that the Lord helps those who help themselves. It's why we have a brain, to make our own decisions, and change our destiny, if we choose to...

I'll still wear my seatbelt, thank you very much.
I don't believe in any gods, fate, nor destiny; therefore I take control of my own life.

Well, as the saying goes, no one makes it out of this life alive.
But Jesus commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves, which includes the notion that we are to love ourselves. To love anyone means to desire what is good for them, and to act so as to secure their good. The preservation of one's own health, fitness, and security, and that of others, are all good things, worthy of being sought. And to fail to seek them would be negligence on our part.
Ultimately, yes, everything is in God's hands. But we show our reverence and gratitude to God by acting as responsible stewards of the gifts He has given to us to enjoy here on Earth.
