Hey people, I would like to ask your advice on something. There's this cat that keeps coming near my house door during the night or early dawn and stands outside and keeps meowing. This has already happened two days in a row. When I open the door, it stares right at me aggressively and keeps meowing! What does it want? Btw, sometimes another cat will appear along with it and according to my mother, the cats fought at times.

Thanks gals and guys for all of your opinions, I have thought of feeding it but my parents are against the idea, I wonder if it would stop if I did....

This cat may have belonged to someone who kept it as an outdoor cat and has moved away, or it was actually an indoor-outdoor cat. Or else, someone in the neighborhood put food out for this cat, because the cat is asking you for food.
That "aggressive stare" you note when you open the door has nothing whatever to do with aggression. The cat has done his part by bringing you to the door, and now he is standing there waiting for you to do your part -- put the food down. So why don't you? I mean, a huge bag of something like Purina Cat Chow isn't very expensive, and this little guy is hungry. All he does is kill rodents. He doesn't cause any harm. Why not put a little pan with some dry food?
Cats can fight with each other and still be buddies, much as humans can tell each other to go to hell one day and be out for a cup of coffee the next day. The first cat said to the second cat, let me show you how to get some food. And he came to your door, probably because he went to a similar door for that result and the person is now gone, so that door doesn't open anymore.
There was a little pregnant female I used to feed. She was not socialized, but the food was good, so she came for it regularly. And one night, in the middle of the night, I was roused from sleep by an almost looney kind of meowing under my window. So I looked, and there was that little female, staring up at me. I mean, you have to understand that the middle of the night for people is high noon for cats, so she was out hunting. And she had run into her boyfriend (I named him Buck) and said, OMG there is this great food! Come with me.
It was not the little female who was making those unearthly sounds. It was the male! So I put food out for them and went back to bed. He was back every night, and he was a real sweetie.
If you are living at home with your mother, I will assume you are young enough to be in school and at home, so let me share some things with you. I had reached a terrible time in my life once and did not know how I could go on. I had been unbelievably betrayed by my family, and really hurt by friends, been thrown out of work and was facing homelessness. This is the hard part: I had hurt no one, done nothing wrong. I just didn't think I could live.
And in the night one night I heard screaming under my window. I went out onto the stone apron behind my brownstone and found a wee tiny baby kitten who would not have lived another hour without intervention. So I took him in. That little act saved my life in complicated ways I there is not space to share with you. But for better or worse, I am alive today because of him.
And from that I learned that what the old saying says is true: Open your door to a needy stranger, because thereby have some entertained an angel unawares. I'm not sure if a needy human showed up at my door that I would be so incautious as to open it, but whoever said that angels are limited to two legs?
For some reason, this little cat chose you. He wants you to feed him. Why don't you? I mean, just as an act of faith, in keeping with the season. Like I said, a huge bag of Purina is not very expensive. And you could pick up some OTC wormer and just plop some of it in with the food, so he gets to keep all the food he eats.
There is, let me assure you, an infinite amount of love in the tiniest of lives, and you can never know many benefits you can reap when you take the paw of a stranger who reaches out to you.
There is no aggression in this little cat. He has come to you for help. Please help him.

I assume you mean, "I can't stand my cat after (his) being nuetered." (Just kidding) But, seriously, the vet is right. The poor guy had a great hormonal shift. Besides, he may feel like he did something really bad and he really needs to make it up to you by showing affection. But, don't do him more harm by over feeding him. That could result in a number of ailments i.e., diabetes... Make sure he gets a good diet and is fed on a regular basis - 2 or 3 times a day - NOT all day. It is o.k. to leave out a little (1/2 cup) dry food for him to nibble on, put set a fairly consistent schedule and stick to it. Give him something to occupy his mind - interactive toys, a video of live birds .... If those things don't work, he may have to give him to somebody who is just begging to have a loving kitty and, then you get a lizard or something else that you can keep in a cage. Good Luck.

It sounds to me like he's considering making a home with you. He likes the idea, but going inside is a BIG step. He may be a bit intimidated by you. Have you tried offering him some food outside?

It means it think you will feed it.
If you did, you're doomed, it will never go away.
