Weird that if the UK embassy do not have a way of checking out the status of visa applications from Nigeria. The Irish Embassy in Abuja does have a facility for such things. So maybe that is the way to go check up the UK embassy in Abuja see if they gave you a number with your application as they do in the Irish embassy

there are 2 options 1. check on the website 2. call the UK visa application centre in your country they would ask you reference number to check your application status.
