assalamalaikum everybody
can somebody give me a very detailed description of the heaven (jannah) from the ahadith? i just want to refresh in my mind of what i am striving for in this world. even if you know very little, can you share it with me, but please make sure it is from the Quran or the Hadith.
and another question that is confusing me... i remember that a few years back some elderly person told me that food in the heaven will be sweet and there will be no salty stuff and no meat...is that so...(i dont know if he was joking because i was and am very choosy with food)? do you of any such hadith to which you can relate this to...?

It is such as will be rewarded with lofty chambers in Paradise, because they were steadfast, and they will be received therein with greeting and peace,
And its shades will be close over them, and its clustered fruits will be brought within their easy reach.
Allah has promised to believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide, and delightful dwelling-places in Gardens of Eternity. And the pleasure of Allah is the greatest of all. That is the supreme triumph.
They will have fruits therein, and they will have whatever they call for.
A description of the Garden promised to the righteous: Therein are streams of water which corrupts not; and streams of milk of which the taste changes not; and streams of wine, a delight to those who drink; and streams of clarified honey. And in it they will have all kinds of fruit, and forgiveness from their Lord. Can those who enjoy such bliss be like those who abide in the Fire and who are given boiling water to drink so that it tears their bowels?
And give glad tidings to those who believe and do good works, that for them are gardens beneath which flow streams. Whenever they are given a portion of fruit therefrom, they will say, 'This is what was given us before,' and gifts mutually resembling shall be brought to them. And they will have therein pure mates, and therein will they abide.
And hasten towards forgiveness from your Lord, and the Paradise whose value is the heavens and the earth. It is prepared for the God-fearing.

It always amazes me that anyone can possibly know what Heaven is like, rather than make the best of what they have for themselves and others on Earth!
Seriously, though, if you're that confused about it, consult your local Imam (Islamic priest).
