Yes you need to burp the baby ( cause child to burp to remove excess air from the stomach). You can do it over the shoulder or sitting the child on lap and pat the baby's back.

Hi , It is very important to pat baby and help her/ him burp. When baby is feeding often , she or he tends to also gulp in small amounts of air...This build lil air pockets inside their tender body and can cause them severe discomfort. Hence after feeding place baby with stomach against your shoulder bone and gently rub or pat lightly till you hear that satisfied lil burp, now baby will have a comfortable nap.As the babies grow up they will learn to burp themselves.

When the baby sucks, it also swallows air. To purge the air from the stomach, you have to do this. Othersie, the milk will come out of the mouth when you put the baby down. If the milk comes out it is ok. If it goes into the lungs, it will be fatal.

It's needed. This will result in burping by the child and bubbles of gas generated while drinking milk will come out easily , so that the child will not have any discomfort after having milk.

Air gets trapped in the alimentary canal when feeding. It will cause discomfort to the baby if it is not burped out. You tap the baby gently in the back to let the trapped air escape through burping.

That is one form of burping the baby. Burping allows gas bubbles to leave the stomach, and keeps baby from vomiting all over.
If it isn't done, baby will get sick...big time!
