Because it's important to them that everyone else be as scared as they are, otherwise, they might be wrong.

Perhaps out of a genuine sense of compassion for others. If I knew about something very dangerous on the road ahead that you didn't know about, I would feel compelled to tell you about it. To warn you.

No matter what you believe personally you admit that others believe in Hell. Starting from that point you should easily be able to understand why they are trying to "scare" you away from it. It doesn't matter to them that you don't believe it exists. In fact, that is just more reason to explain it to you.

I am not advocating for its existence or its non-existence; I'm just answering your question as you posed it.

Passive/aggressive way of controlling others...its the only way they can attempt to get some of their own power back, from the God/s they gave it up to...by being mean and judgemental to others.

Its the same as why do SOME skinny or obese people "hate" their opposites...because its the only way they deal with feeling worthless. Putting others down makes it ok "to them" to be themselves.

People, religious or not, who are comfortable in their own skins, dont force their issues upon others and dont judge because they know its ok for everyone to be different and have no desire to take control...as they already have it.

They think we all believe like them, but simply are rejecting god. These christians can't understand the concept that other types of beliefs exist. They apply their beliefs to everyone. They're scared of hell so you need be also. It reinforces their beliefs.

Yeah... it's really not very persuasive seeing as we don't believe in it - and anyway usually we are morally better people than those who threaten us with hell in the first place.

I believe in God and am absolutely annoyed by people like that. Chances are they'll be in hell because they're judging people instead of listening to their reasoning.

I don't think anyone is trying to scare others, I think they tell them for the same reason I'd tell you that you were standing with your toes over the edge of a cliff.

You should be scared. Hell is a very hot place. I don't think you will like it very much if you are sent there. Better accept Jesus before the rapture.
