im applying for passport...thank you in advance.pls help me

The birth certificate itself should at least have the state on the top of the form or somewhere.
Call the state that you were born in, I believe records of birth, or city hall can help you.
You need that for the passport.
We just had four of them done and they do ask a lot of questions, even about your parents where they were born.
Be prepared.

you go to the office of birth registrar or what we call an estate office or where notary work is done and ask them what can be done?
They can surely help you out.

get a government certified document that places a birth place, do not change it yourself
