I took my daughter to the doctor yesterday. She has an ear infection, eye infection and sinus infection. They gave her an antibiotic shot around 3pm yesterday and they said to start the oral antibiotics today. I don't know if they meant start this morning or tonight. The Doctor and pharmacy are closed so I can't call and ask. It's a once a day antibiotic. Should I give it to her now or start it tonight?

It probably doesn't matter. If it were me, I would give it to her this morning. When my kids get sick, I usually give them their 1st dose of the antibiotics right after I get it filled (which is generally late afternoon or evening) and then the next day, I give it to them with breakfast. I figure getting a little more into them at the start is a good thing, plus they still wouldn't have enough in their system to cause any harm. I hope your daughter feels better soon.

You should start the antibiotics this morning. Also, if things don't look vastly improved by the evening hours, you should call your doctor again. I am guessing that she got Cephtriaxone and this is a fast working antibiotic.

Good luck!!

If they said to start it today, go ahead and start it...wow sound slike she is pretty miserable ,poor kid. Give the next dose at the same time each day. The more consistent the dosages are, the quicker she will feel better....you can always call ask-a nurse, check out their wensite, they are available for 24 hours.
Hope she feels better soon!
