After ROTC does it make sense to decline the LT position and go in as enlisted? Is it even Possible? No offense to officers but I want to be a trigger pulller. I wanna be the one knocking down the door. I know officer pay is more. All my freinds tell me to go officer no question. All the officers here of course say to go in as officer. But if someone with experience has an opinion it would be most appriciated. I gotta choose one soon. Maybe I can enlist for a while then try to become an officer later on? I just don't want to do something I'll regret and I want to do something I will enjoy.

-Thanks

no you may not decline once you have contracted(accepted money). the contract states you will serve as a Commissioned Officer, and so you shall.

By all means ,enlist first if that's what you want and then seek a commission later once you have the 4 year Degree.

After all that money and time they spent on you to train you they are expecting to get an officer not a enlisted personnel. Besides I've done the kick down doors trigger pulling crap it's over rated and gets a little mundane after awhile.

when your out of ROTC you will be a 2nd LT, basically your first job will be a Platoon leader. now as the OIC for that platoon dont you think you could get yourself on some of the patrols to do some door kicking? keep with the officer dude and i promise i wont call you a "CADIDIOT" (cadet+idiot=CADIDIOT)

but here is my one officer joke ... whats the difference between a CADIDIOT and a monkey?

you can train the monkey.

c'mon thats funny.

Go officer. You can still kick in doors as you'll be a field officer until at least probably the rank of Captain or more probably Major.

Go officer, man. You can still kick in doors, I promise.
Besides, you could kick in a door at home, anyway.

Why do ROTC then?

Just get school loans and enlist and get loan repayment.

It's going back on your word. Maybe that doesn't mean anything to you but it does to me.

WOW--real cool you want to "pull the trigger" and "knock down doors." sorry you need to kill people to feel like a man and enjoy life. such BS!
