It is very hard isn't it, the theory is we all have a choice and and that thoughts don't really exist, yes they are there, but we have to think them in order for them to exist. Now in theory i stress, we should be able to remove that thought from our minds therefore it is no longer an issue., but OMG i continually tackle my therapist on this as its all OK in theory but in practise it is very different. Once you have thought that thought, it is very hard to remove it isn`t, as the initail thought brings about another thought which brings about another thought and oh dear what a mess. So whilst we are all trying to practice this theory we all need something else to be doing to help as this take a long time lol. Breathing is a great way to relax, I mean really breathe, most of us know how to breathe to survive, but very few of us know how to breathe to thrive.Be very aware of your breathing, control your breathing, this is almost like a meditation, and it doesnt matter if other things float into your mind , thats normal, just re focus and allow you to concentrate on your breathing again.
When you think you are in control of your breathing, focus this breathing on parts of your body, such as breathe in and focus on your fingers and arms ok, so its almost like you breathe in from your finger tips all the way up to your arms and on your outward breath, you breathe down through your arms and out past your finger ends. Lie down to do this and do it on your legs also. Once you have done this and are totally relaxed finish of by imagining you are a whale that has that hole in the top of your head. Breathe inward from your toes right the way up to your head and on your outward breath let all your emotions and anger or whatever it is out through that imaginary hole in the top of your head. Its like an imaginary body scan like Jon Kabat Zinn does. It works trust me, give it a try,.

When you realise you're stressed and your muscles are tense just try to sit still for 5 minutes and focus on your breathing. Be conscious of when a thought starts creeping into your head, acknowledge that a thought has entered in your head and refocus on your breathing again.
Keep taking these 5-minute time outs until you can do this a little longer, and then a little longer.
Good luck. Hope this helps.

i use yoga and meditation. it's not easy and it takes a bit of practice to "quiet the mind" but it's well worth pursuing. it's also well worth checking out the book "the power of now" by Eckhart Tolle, which talks about the need to remain in the "present". we can spend so much time thinking about what has happened and what is to come that we miss what's going on right now.

When I feel stressed out.........I normally play the guitar because it calms me......after that I lay down in the couch and think about what I am going to do, so I wont feel stressed anymore.
I usually make up a schedule of what to do, for example at 5 I'll start doing my homework and later I'll work out...etc. It usually helps me feel relieved....like not too many things to do anymore.

I go and download a new piece of music depending on my mood and what I'm stressed out about. You can choose up to 25 songs through a no-risk free trial offer at http://www.25freemp3.com
If you cancel in two weeks and don't download more than 25, then you can keep them for free and will not be billed. You also get one audio book to download, so if you prefer then you can have someone read to you rather than sing to you.

i cry it all out. what i do is sit in the shower and let the water run all over me as i sit in there and cry it out.i don't have a cold shower i have a warmish cool shower. after i feel better. a bit babyish but I'm only 14. Ive only done it twice before but it works. it feels like your out in the rain washing it all away. the noise of shower helps to cover the noise of the crying. while your crying in shower listen to come clean by hilary duff lol.

I find that if I ride my bike everyday at least 10 miles, it keeps me from stressing out. I like yoga too, but nothing beats an aerobic workout to calm the nerves.
