I've read that in most states the dea/state government has set special regulations on how much of what a doctor can prescribe of narcotics, but that a handful of states have instead a pain act so that it is left up to the doctor to decide. Is Florida one of these states, and if not, what are the amounts allowed for doctors to prescribe here?

In the State of FL I'm told (according to what my mom told me) that dentists are limited to how much narcotics they can prescribe per month but when it comes to Medical doctors that isn't the case.

One way you can find out is to check the site of the Florida Board of Medicine by going to: http://www.myflorida.com and then type Florida Medical Board in the Search box on the site.
