Wow. Where have you been. The thou's and thy's are only in the King James and New King James versions of the Bible. There are probably more than 25 editions of the Bible since those to put them in modern language. The latest good ones are probably the New Living Translation and the gender friendly TNIV Bible.

There are many translations of the Bible that use contemporary English, such as the New Living Translation, the New American Standard Bible, the Message, and the New International Version.

The Bible HAS been updated, many times. Try the NIV, Holman's CSB, The Message, NASB, and many others.
If you look on www.biblegateway.com, they have the Bible in just about every English version out there.

for some people antiquity holds a certain appeal.
makes people think, oh this has been around for a while, it must be true.
argumentum ad antiquitatem:
this mindset was directly responsible for the error of the scholastics, who held that aristotle and plato had to be correct in their views on science and nature, because they were venerable philosophers from a golden age. in fact, this very fallacious mindset is behind the entire concept of a 'golden age'. the reality is that the past was a brutal, primitive and ignorant world to live in.
truth is, bad habits are hard to kick.

It wouldn't really make it any more appealing in my opinion. Maybe they should just re-translate the whole thing into something better, like the Lord of the Rings, or perhaps something really cool that we haven't even heard about yet.
