When it says use cream cheese in a sweet rtecipe does it mean like philadelphia?

Yes, that's what Philadelphia cheese is.

Tip: try using the Light or Extra Light, it'll taste the same, but your cake will have less fatty calories.

By the way, supemarket's also sell cream cheese under their own brand name and cheaper than Philadelphia's.

Yes, it means soft cheese like Philadelphia. You don't use cream cheese that has onions or garlic in it in a sweet recipe for obvious reasons.

you can use philly brand or store brand.
cream cheese is cream cheese.
you can use neusfactel (or however you spell it) too, it's a creamier lower fat version of cream cheese- tastes the same too

yes, and that is one of the most popular to use. Just dont use the ones with chives and stuff in.

Marscapone is another choice, its a bit softer.
