I've won $100 on a $2 scratchie once which is awesome when you think about it.

I won a $6500 share of $32,000 on the Melbourne cup this year which was even more awesome.

I won $32 on the Powerball this week in a lotto syndicate which isn't so awesome but I was only 2 numbers off winning the big one! Seven thousand dollars playing twenty-five-cent Kino machines, four times in the last three years. But as good as that sounds, as they say, you've gotta kiss a Lot of frogs before you find your prince.

But the most Satisfying AND Unsatisfying "win" I've ever had gambling was with my wife at our local dog track. We bet a pretty long odds Trifecta, that is, betting the Win, Place and Show dogs in the correct order. At the end of the race it was a photo finish, and photos take a few extra minutes to study the films and declare a winner.

Well, This one went on for a Loooong time and nobody knew why. Two or three hundred people are getting restless and impatient for the next race to start and she and I are sweating bullets.

Now, let's say we bet 1-2-3. Turns out the only other people in the Whole Room who cared were the couple sitting Right in Front of us with a ticket showing 2-1-3.

FORTY MINUTES LATER, they declare the race a T-I-E !!! The film shows the two dog's noses touching the wire in the same ONE-ONE-THOUSANDTH OF A SECOND. We and our new best friends ended up splitting the pot. We all bought one good bottle of champagne and toasted our fortunes - good and bad and totally weird. What a Hoot !
