Oh. Well, no. I don't even see the connection. I believe in the concept of materialism, though materialistic refers to a selfish desire for material things.

Materialistic in what way?
Because Atheists simply don't believe in God, otherwise, they are just like the next being, just a bit more special. So if you want to know if they are materialistic in general, I suggest you do a survey :D

Not anymore materialistic than materialistic Christians. It doesn't matter what your belief system is. Greed is a character flaw not based on what you believe in.

No, materialism makes a lot of sense, both in the methodological sense that science uses and the philosophical sense.
Sadly the language has been defaced by the concept of economic materialism which we should all just ignore (or find another word for it).

Not at all... I am an atheist and really dislike stuff... I dont even like the concept f stuff really... stuff is usually rather self serving... I work to buy stuff and then work on the stuff I bought... bleck!
