It's sad that people are forced to pretend that they believe something to ward off the fear of eternal damnation. If there is a God that would send you to hell for only wanting to believe in him, he's hardly worthy of your praise and worship.

No, you are not going to burn in hell if indeed you want to believe. God won't turn you away. My first prayer was flippant because I did not believe God existed. It was more a 'killing time' act while trying to go to sleep in a strange town, in a hotel. Two weeks later, I returned home, having forgotten that night. That flippant prayer had been answered. I immediately felt Christ's presence and He was with me for weeks or months, I really don't know how long He stayed, so close I felt I could touch him.
Every time I question my belief in Him, I remember that time and no matter what anyone says, even proves, I know it was Him. There is no other explanation.
If you really want to believe, you will. In His time. There is a reason you 'can't'. The question you have to ask is 'Am I ready to ask Him?' We have the choice of accepting or rejecting.
Here's hoping you make the right choice.

why do you want to believe THOSE specific things in the first place?

its nice to think that theres a god who saves and that there is a heaven we get to go to. its comforting and makes life seem not so grim. its a popular belief for that very reason. a lot of people want there to be more to life than what we see and experience everyday.

and a lot of us want prayers to be answered, and help to come from a supernatural source, bigger and more powerful than we are.

doubt is a part of the human experience. so is fantasy. and dreams. and superstition.

we all must find ourselves - and we all seek answers. there will always be people who claim to know the way - the right way to believe. what is right for some may not be right for you.

some people terrorize others and tell them that if they don't believe a certain set of ideas that they will then go to a place called hell, where they will then burn. eternally. this is an example of terrorism. you will find your own way. you ask what you should DO. well. all you can do is continue to live life, and continue the journey.

Praying is simply a symbol right, not definite results. If you just pray for the sake of it, then what's the point. If you simply believe in God because you don't wish to go to Hell, its ridiculous. You are treating it as an escape route for all the wrongdoings you might have done. Don't, cos its laughable.

If you do not believe in God, you will not necessarily 'burn' in hell. Yet, you will, at the very least, find yourself in Limbo, which involves no physical pain, but only the eternal anguish of knowing that God exists but never being able to see and understand Him. Obviously, this would be disastrous. But, you are rewarded and punished according to your merit. If you were never interested in God in your earthly life, why would God prepare a seat for you in Heaven to contemplate Him there? You did not know Him, and so why would He know you?

It is up to you, really. Again, Limbo is not so bad. You can hang out with Plato, Aristotle, Virgil, and the like. There is a big castle there, and everyone lives a fairly normal life, aside from their endless sighing. But, if you really want to know God, you know the way. And why would you not want to know Him? Wouldn't that be the most complete happiness you can think of?

You name me one other thing that you want to do and cannot do? You do exactly what you want to do. Period. You don't do what you don't want to do. Period. It is that simple. You are surrounded by a thousand influences that can be put into three categories: 1) The desires of the body, 2) the influence of this present age, and 3) the malevolent orchestration by the kingdom and realm of the god of this world, Satan. Despite that constant influence, you are in total control of the choices you make. Belief is a choice. You choose to believe, or you choose to reject. It is that simple. Feelings have nothing to do with it. You don't think with your feelings. You think with your mind. Your inner self believes what is true, but the flesh, the world and the devil will fight you. They will ridicule, tempt and do whatever it takes to sway you away from any commitment to God. Of course they won't be there when you die. Everyone dies alone. Those who die in the Lord leave their bodies and are carried into the presence of the Lord. Those who die in their own sins, are carried to Hades, to await final judgment and ultimately the Lake of Fire.
Hades, the temporary abode of the damned, is no picnic either. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Open up your Bible and read the entire Book of John. There are 21 chapters. Read three a day and you will have read the entire book in one week. Read one a day and you will finish in three weeks. Now enough of that "I can't" business! These "feelings" that tell you you can't believe, where do you think these are coming from? Wake up. Renew the spirit of your mind. Read John. You are captain of your own ship. Start acting like it. Quit acting as if you are a ship carried about by every wind wheresoever it wishes.

Start by reading the Holy Scriptures to help you.

Revelations 21:8

"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.""

God is like Santa Claus. But once you lose your childishness you grow up. God is a myth and belief in a myth is wrong so don't worry about burning up, there's no hell either, just another ploy of the church to instill fear into the simple minded uneducated masses. Remember that belief is about something that is "unknowable". Faith begins where knowledge leaves off because when knowledge comes the truth will set you free but belief never can. Belief vanishes when knowledge comes. If churches told you that they'd be out of a job because they subsist in non-knowledge. knowledge crumbles belief systems, we all know about the flat earth society! And praying...Sure you can pray..when you want a loan you can "pray" to the banker or to your parents or the car finance company. When you want an aching tooth pain to go way, you "pray" to the dentist..pray to those who can answer your prayer, or wish, or hope, all part of the prayer syndrome but praying to something that was invented back in mythology is purest nonsense. If you would like to hear some reasons for what I just commented about please visit Youtube and watch the movie Zeigeist, a 13 part series of about 9 minute segments; the first segment noted here on religion will really open your mind. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=KeZB2EsPqGE&feature=relatedand if you really want some insight in the world of religion youTube again and listen to the power of reason with Pat Condell http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=atTSwau9fwM another 5 minute segment that will open your eyes; he has about 30 such commentary videos. Don't worry about anything..get knowledgre and with all thine getting get understanding and prove all things. Hercules doesn't exist either.

Well, maybe you should go to a church and talk to a pastor. I'm sure he will be totally willing to help you. Or, if you have a Bible, open it and start reading it. trust me, the Bible will prove to that there is a God. And if that's not enough, look around you. Who else could've made it all? And look at your life, im sure God has done soo much for you. And of course, you can pray for God to open your eyes and that he will open your heart so you will believe in him. Ask him to save you. That's all it takes.

Man didn't create himself, there are many children that were born after the death of their father, they believe in their father and they have not seen or touched him. It doesn't have to be tangible to believe, love for instance is just an emotion that the five senses can't detect, but you know it's there. You can buy a Bible that is easy to read, believing is up to you, and even if you don't, it's good knowledge.

God is just, and will judge us in His own way. If you can't believe in Him, you need to pray more. Just think of all of the Apostles, 11 out of the 12 died horrible deaths, and all had the chance to simply say: okay I was making it all up, sorry! but non of them did... Isn't this prove enough that they saw things that we may never see... They would not die over a simple lie right?

Keep praying God will manifest Himself in due time.

Will pray for you!
