I am finance in the army, so are you talking about army, airforce what? In the army there are a bunch of ways of obatining bah. First off if you are married, this is active duty I'm talking about, you get bah for your duty station (zip code). So for instance I was stationed at fort campbell and I was receiving 42223 zip code bah. It also depends on your rank, if you are single and there is a possiblity you can get it. But I am 99.9% sure your not in the army, and if you are thinking about it your gonna be e-4 and below. So if you married you can get it but if your single your gonna be in the barracks. Unless you have child support, and have atleast half custody. Because if you have half custody than you need a place for your child to come and see you right? see so than you can move off base and you will be provided with bah. email if you need some more advice, I have 5 years going on 6 of expierence.

RE:
Military question: what is the BAH status of geo-bachelors?
How much BAH does a geo-bachelor receive? is it full, partial, or based on where the spouse lives?

The military is cutting down on Geo-Bachelors so it will need to get approved first and foremost. If it is then the full BAH rate w/dependents and will be based on where you are stationed, not where the spouse is living. Normally now those who are doing Geo-Bacheloring are being required to either pay for barracks or get an apartment. They do not like having a AD getting BAH for a residence and living in barracks for free.
Now if you are overseas on unaccompanied orders, that is not being a Geo-Bachelor it is just that unaccompanied orders. In which you will be allowed to live in barracks or get a place out in town getting OHA. And your spouse will get the full BAH based on the zip code he/she is living at.

BAH is based on your Duty station if you are on Accompanied Orders, even if your family chooses not to join you. HOWEVER.. GEO Bats are being told more and more that they CANNOT live in the Barracks for free any longer, or even at all.
Unless the Barracks are empty, you can expect to have to maintain 2 households on one BAH.. where you are stationed, and where your family is.

from my experience it depends on the situation and WHY they are a geobachelor....if the spouse just moved away on her own free will...or chose to live elsewhere while the service member is deployed they continue to get BAH for duty location.....unless they were living in base housing.....if you live in base housing and you vacate it for more than 90 days you lose it. If say the member gets a remote tour (like korea for example) or the spouse has a medical condition and moves to be where they can get medical care or help with children etc at a doctors suggestion then they will recieve BAH for the new zipcode.

It's based on the address you give as your home of record where you have qualified for residency.
