If you want to mack a backup copy of all your emails, contacts, etc of the information in Outlook (not the program itself) then you want to copy the following file (s):

outlook.pst
archive.pst

You can simply copy these files to any removable media, or an external hard drive. You can then copy these files to another machine with a fresh installation of Outlook and replace the default empty files with your good ones.

With XP and Outlook 2003 the files are located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

in short, because of the fact XP worked. It had very few bugs and it became useful. you may desire to run XP on below 256MB of RAM easilly. Its only no longer nicely worth upgrading. i understand a guy who upgraded his studio computing device from XP to homestead windows 7 and it crashes non stop.
