Sometimes we like someone, but they just don't have that special something. In your opinion, what makes a girl "girlfriend material"?

haha I AM a girl..who likes boys!! I've had boyfriends before and was curious what other guys think!

I agree with the first answer. Yeah there are some things physically we look for. But more guys are looking at her attitude and how she acts. Believe it or not guys aren't even drooling on the playboy centerfolds anymore. Yeah their hot, but too high maintenance. The only thing most guys cant stand... brace yourself.... FAT. Yep, you got it. Guys don't like obese women.
Either way you will definatley be girlfriend material with the following guidelines:
1. DONT PUT OUT ON THE FIRST DATE! You would be amazed how many women do this. While the guy is all good about it now, it does take some of the excitement and anticipation. Plus he might find you easy... easy=s1ut=not what they want in a girlfriend.
2. Compromise - Nothing is better than someone who is willing to talk about what they think, and feel and let the guy know when you aren't really in to what's going on. Guys think women that are honest on things like that are most likely to be faithful.
3. Be there in ways you never thought you would be in - Guys sometimes need to be able to let go of the machismo and (e.g. when they are ill, or a recovery from injury) show a weakness. If you are supportive, and show that you are ready to put in the effort without being asked means your reliable as a companion.
4. Finally, Be honest with him from the word go. Make sure he knows he's the only one, and that's what you want. Dont flirt with other male friends and expect he is going to understand. There are some things/behaviors that are for him only at this time, and by respecting that normally seals the deal.
Good luck, and try not to think too much about it, just find the one that sees you are girlfriend material.

That 'something special' is called chemistry. If any of us knew how it worked the world would be an entirely different, and very boring, place to live. Don't waste time questioning why, just get out there and find it!
I've had great chemistry with someone mentally but not physically and vice versa, I think you've found boy/girlfriend material when you get both with the one person.

Isnt a certain material that makes some one a suitable mate , Its different for every one ..When you see it in some one you will know , you will want to learn all you can about that person. The fun part and best part of a relationship is learning about them..Even years down the road you can still learn stuff from them.

basically, she must have an willingness to commit to a steady relationship with the guy in consideration of all his physical, emotional, psychological, financial conditions.
There is no standard across the board. Each one of us is different. Some guys/gals like their partner to be independent, some likes their partner to be active and some likes to be carefree.
The important thing is that you must be comfortable in your roles and responsibilities in the relationship. That will then makes the partner feel that you are of 'partner material' coz they can be comfortable with you.

Guys tend to focus on sex at first and look at everything else later. So unfortunately the attractiveness of your body and face are first. Then you have to have self respect, good posture, and common interests and values. THEN comes things like intelegence, ambition, organizational skills etc.
What car you drive, who your freinds are, where you work, who your family are, how much money you have, do not even make the list of interests.

2. respectable and honest
3. dresses and acts like a lady
4. If she is humbled and has God in her life.
Then you know you will be treated right and you know you can bring her home to meet the parents.
