There are numerous food (among other environmental) triggers. Chocolate is a common trigger. Which component of chocolate is causing your headaches to trigger, would be impossible to tell from the information given.

As has been noted above, commercial chocolates contain a mixture of substances, one of which is triggering your headaches. It could be related to the caffeine, though the caffeine levels in most servings of chocolate are low. It could be tannins, it could be artificial sweeting products or it could be the preservatives added to the products.

This could be determined by testing, but it is probably easier, to eliminate or limit chocolate in your diet.

Allergy to chocolate or the components would be less common, unless you were eating chocolate with nuts, and then the reaction would be a more specific hypersensitivity reaction, and not a headache.

If the condition continues, see your physician for follow up.

Chronic headaches are manageable, but generally need some time to develop a treatment plan.

If you need more information on headaches, please write or ask for additional details to this question.

chocolate is a thing that many people are allergic to, in different ways, and in hardly noticeable ways. Chocolate is something that often triggers migraines, in people who suffer from them. It wouldn't be from teh caffeine in teh chocolate, unless you are sensitive to caffeine in other forms as well. It is either from the concentrated amount of sugar, if you are not used to eating sugar (a sort of sugar hangover, if you will), or becaseu you are slightly allergic.

It helps if you massage your scalp, pulling your hair slightly, as this bring the blood to your head and if the headache is mild, will disperse it. Or you could try standing on your head.

Or, best of all, you could avoid chocolate. But, as another person who has a chocolate allergy, that is easier said than done.

It could be because of the tannins in chocolate. Red wine (which often gives people headaches) contains a lot of tannins. chocolate does as well.

It might be stimulating the liver resulting in excess of liver
which is the main cause of h/a.

Pl try acupressure given below.

Alternate systems of medicine can only help you.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don't treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.
