Yes , lotions have chemicals that are not very friendly, such as alcohol compounds. Try the ones that have a sign that says"dermatologist approved".

It's normal because it means your skin is raw and parched for moisture! It's NOT a good thing, though. I think you're suffering from winter skin, since it's so dry out. Don't use lotion, because lotion is mostly water. Get some nice cream w ith cocoa butter in it and massage it into your face when you use it. Don't just smear it on-- really work it in. You'll see improvements in days, and you will skin will be soft, supple, and smooth in about two weeks. Keep this up because it helps in the long run, too. Your skin will thank you when you're sixty. You can always use moisturing products. It sounds like you want a tan, too. It's not really healthy to get a tan, so the best advice really is to spend a little more time in the sun so that it'll happen naturally.
PS: Use non-greasy sunblock whenever you go outside. No exceptions. Once again, your skin will thank you. Make it a ritual-- like brushing your teeth-- and don't forget about your neck! Your necks can get dry and old, too.

You have sensitive skin... So, any lotion you use may cause a rash/inflamation.... Also, when you wash your face you may want to try a moisturizing skin wash and turn the water to warm and NOT hot... The hot water will strip the skins natural oils. I like to use Cetaphil it's really good for sensitive skin AND you can use it to moisturize... Although, I use the cetaphil moisturizing cream as well.... It's very gentle and you can find it at most major stores.... Good luck

If the lotion you have has Aloe Vera in it that can and does cause a burning sensation when applied to irritated, dry skin. Try using something without Aloe Vera in it like Cocoa Butter cream.

is your skin reddish, or do you flush? often times burning along with redness and flushing are symptoms of a skin condition called rosacea. with rosacea you also may or may not have inflammatory lesions similar to those of people who suffer from acne.
if there is no redness, flushing, or inflammatory lesions, it is probably just some reaction to the lotion you are using. i recommend using cetaphil as a moisturizer. it is very gentle. if the symptoms do not improve see a dermatologist.
