So, this guy and I have been dating for 5 months now exclusively. we hang out about 4 days a week, text or call daily, buy each other birthday presents etc and spend the night sometimes. we have already discussed that we are not seeing other people. I don't know if I'm just retarded or what?? But I have yet to hear the word girlfriend.....and it bothers me. I have met his family and I know that he talks about me to them. But he has never called me girlfriend to my face....I'm confused

Sometimes having a 'title' as such can help you sort things out in your head easier. What I'd suggest is next time you're just hanging out just say to him something along the lines of:
"Hey, can I ask you something serious? I sort of need a straight answer on this one because it's been bugging me for some time now. I really don't know where I stand with you these days. Am I just a friend that you like or are we friends with benefits or are we more than that?"

I suggest that you go to the Emerald City to see the great and powerful Wizard of Oz. He might bestow upon you a piece of paper with the word "Girl Friend" written on it. That would make it official.
