Because many people here likes to bash us just for fun. They watched the South Park episode "All about Mormons" and they think that's the mere truth about us... Oh well!!!!!
People: we aren't so weird as you think.. we are people who cry, smiles, get mad, feels happy, we eat, we feel, we breat, etc... we are just like anyone else.

Since the Presidential election coverage has increased there have been a lot more than normal. I expect it to steadily increase until Romney either wins or is no longer in the race. Now that a Presidential candidate is making a lot of headway in the race, more and more Evangelicals are finding themselves agreeing with what he says, but can't reconcile that with what they've been taught about Mormons, so many of them come here to find out more about us.
The reason you don't see as much about specific Protestant denominations is because Protestants generally feel that while there are a few differences between one Protestant and another, generally they are the same. However, because Mormons aren't Protestants and some don't even consider us Christians, there are a lot of rumors spread by well meaning but ignorant people and now people just want to know what's truth and what's false.

It has been mentioned already, but I think that with the attention Mormonism is getting with Mitt Romney's presidential bid and the fact that many do not have much knowledge about Mormons that a lot of questions are being generated.

Lots of reasons/ theories ...
Because we aren't a protestant mainstream church.
We have the full truth, and that threatens people.
Our temples only allow members in good standing, which makes us seem secretive,
We are growing rapidly
We have strict expectations
The religious beliefs create a culture, making us look like a cult
The whole history with polygamy, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, being driven out of states - multiple times.
The orgin of the Book of Mormon
Joseph Smiths testimony of seeing God
Mitt Romney running for President brings lot of attention
In the Christian religions there are Catholics, Protestants, and Mormons. The Protestants are all branches of the Catholic church, which means there are only two main sects of Christianity, until recently Mormons weren't a threat.
Take your pick.

Did I belong to the same church as the rest of you? As a Mormon I believed that after death I would be resurrected, and if judged worthy be "exalted," meaning I would become like God. I believed that I would populate not just a world but worlds. I guess I just dreamed all that up.

Because there are people out there that are curious and just want to find out the facts or they might have heard something about the mormons and are asking the question on that particular situation.

It may be because of the recent attention because of Mitt Romney. And the ignorant belief of some that Mormonism is a cult. So a lot of people just don't know a lot about it, and they are curious about the seemingly mysterious religion. It's really not that far from Catholicism. Yikes!

Because we are a peculiar people. Some people are trying to find out more about our beliefs, some are trying to attack our beliefs. That is part of being different and having beliefs that differ from most other religions.

I don't know. There is something seriously messed up about that. You know if you re-word the questions and make them applicable to baptists or any protestants, it gets reported? Talk about a double standard.
