I have read a lot recently on this site how God made us as sexual beings only to procreate. I no longer have a uterus due to illness. Does that mean I can or should no longer have sex?

I tend to believe that sharing pleasure is better then hate. I think if we spent more time being less judgemental we could be happier as a community. In my mind I think more people need to have more sex. Maybe that way we wouldn't go around on our high horses.

God invented sexual intercourse as a way for a wife and husband to share the deepest possible intimacy, a merging into one flesh that participates in the creation of new human life.

Even when the procreative abilities pass, God wants us to continue to enjoy the powerful and exclusive sexual intimacy of marriage.

God emphatically restricted sex only to marriage. It is simply too precious and powerful to turn into casual recreation.

Cheers,
Bruce

Procreation is only one of the reasons for sex, and is one of the greatest reasons against homosexuality. Homosexuality does not produce children.

Sex between married partners is a complete joining on several levels, namely the emotional, physical and mental, making the two truly one, and it deepens the experience when this connection happens. That is how God planned for it to be.

If the ones who believe it's only for procreation are to be believed, married couples would stop having sex after their last child was born.

You can still have and enjoy sex, but as others have said, keep it in marriage where God meant for it to be.

You only lost 1/2 of the the process. The remaining 1/2 half works just fine. Assuming you are in an Happy marriage you have a free pass to enjoy without concern. God Bless

God made sex pleasurable. Sex inside a marriage is not a sin, regardless of the reason. The people who think it is only for procreation are just following the old catholic teachings.

If sex were only for procreation, God would not have needed to make it fun. He could have just said .... go forth and multiply and they would have. Sexual intimacy also strengthens a marriage and without it, the marriage could be in trouble. ( everyone gets urges you know)

So, Go... enjoy sex as God intended.

I don't know any real live Christian who thinks sex is only for procreation. Why do people believe everything they read on here? I would guess less than 1% of the Christian population actually thinks this way. Stop giving the vocal minorities with crazy views so much attention.

I'm sorry you had to have your uterus removed. I say that, since you no longer have to worry about getting pregnant (which can be a blessing or a curse, depending on your attitude), you should have all the sex you want.
Now, that doesn't mean I condone promiscuity, because I don't (I've only ever been with one person).

Sex in marriage is fine and it is not only for procreation.

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.
1 Corinthians 7:4-5

Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

As long as its with your husband its okay. I've never seen in the Bible where it says that the ONLY purpose for sex is procreation. If that was the case, God could have come up with a simpler way for it to happen I think.

When I get married, I plan on having a good deal of sex without having kids for at least a few years so as long as you are within the confines of marriage, enjoy!

God gave us sex and in married couples there is nothing wrong with it. Yes it is for more than just having kids. It is to help you as a couple bond and become as close as two people ever will. Note that this only works well if God is still first in both your lives.
