Is it true that people who do bad in highschool, do well in college?

I did crummy in HS. Waited several years to start college after high school and when i did enroll, I paid for it all myself and worked too, and lived on my own. I did way better in college because I was there for ME. Not because I was part of the system, and the money was coming from me directly too. Granted, I could only afford a community college but did end up with my AA. Never went further, though and wish I did but who can afford that?

I'm not a minority or illegal or deadbeat so I have to pay full price. If I quit working and started living off the system maybe i could get a free ride. Our society rewards those behaviours, but someone like me, a productive member of society who REALLY wants to go but can't afford it just can't get a break. It doesn't make sense.

It really depends upon the person and the maturity of that person when they enter college. I did poorly in high school, and did not go to college full time immediately. I went to a Junior College for a year part time and worked. When I did go back to college full time, I was more prepared for the challenges of the cirriculum. I managed a B average all through college and was very proud when I graduated, as in high school I struggled and didn't even get a C average. So it can be done, but it depends on the person.

It all depends upon what you were going through in high school....messed up family and so forth...but you know what, sometimes when you are away from all of that, and have moved on (intellectually) for your own sake...you will do better. You know what the clue is? Did you ever do really well in say 7th , 8th or 9th grade...then your grades started to fall and you were having a bunch of problems?

That should tell you that somewhere along the line you will do well in college if you apply yourself...but don't kid yourself on thinking that college is the same as high school.

No? Well, not necessarily. This solely depends on the person and how their efforts grow from high school to college. But for the most part, what you asked isn't true. But people who do poorly in high school CAN succeed later if they choose to.

Yes because you usually want to be in college, but not in HS. College teachers will not treat you like a kid. Work, or fail. You can also get more help when you struggle. The resources to get you up to speed is better.

my dad's highschool grades were so bad my mom wont let me see them cause then i could say well i did better then him. In college he was validictorian of his class, and before retirement was a very succsesful surgeon. Also my brothers grades werent amazing and in college he had 3.8 and 3.75 first and second semester of college, i forget the grades he got later in college but they stayed good.

Not necessairly, people who do bad in high school usually dont end up going to college cause they dont meet requirements or end up dropping out!

It depends, I remember one of my teachers telling me that she did not do well in high school, but amazing in college, but those high school grades still haunted her through her college years. But, I'm sure if you do well in high school you can do worse in college. It just depends on the person I guess.
