Since the deaths of Davey Allison and Dale Earnhardt? I mean are the only true fans left are the hardcore ones? Has any new drivers stepped up to really be "The Man" like Dale did?

Unfortunatly when we loss drivers a young hotshoe will show up with his GQ goodlooks and a contract to drive for a team that builds around him.He shoots to the top then yo-yos for the next several seasons.
The Allison's,Earnhardt,Rusty,D.W. among others fought to get to the top of their game. They drove cars that just barley made inspection. But they earned the respect of the racing communities and their place in the sport,.
Today about a forth of the drivers are in this mold of worling their way up,the rest are cast into a car that could be driven by any driver in any NASCAR series and they could win.
The few true hardcore NASCAR fans that have watched our idols leave the sport, are now fewer.I have watched this great sport since 1960 only to see it ruined in the past few years by greedy owners and profiteering sponsors.I've seen fans that would fght each other in the stands during the race over their driver but go have a cool one and say how good the race was after the event.
Todays fans are fans of racing, but they limit themselfs to a driver, not a sport.
Alan,Davey,J.D.,Rodney,Kenny,
Adam
.................and the list goes on,all of you are in our hearts and our sport.

Your first question: Yes, it's lost some steam, but keep in mind the changes it has went through trying to make as much money as it can!!!
Your second question: Yes, there are only a few real Nascar fans left!
Your last question: No, they can't speak out or say what they think without suffering the wrath of NASCAR and their sponsors!!! Believe it or not these drivers have obligations that limit what they can say!! I challenge anyone to prove me wrong!!! Dale Sr. didn't haft to worry about that as much as the drivers of today! Example: Tony Stewart simply avoids the press right after a race so as not to say anything that Nascar or his sponsor would not like! It's a game and Jr. is playing it too, he wouldn't be at Hendricks if he wasn't! Racing is just not what it used to be!
The dollar always counted, but just not as much as now!!!
Happy Holidays!!!

I hate to be one to say it. But I think the unfortunate death of Dale Earnhardt alone got many people (who never once gave NASCAR a thought) talking and taking a look at it in the following weeks.

Many new watchers tuned in to see how the NASCAR world would respond to losing one of it's most influential stars.

After tuning in over the following weeks, some gave up and went back to doing other Sunday activities but many others got hooked and became fans.

Actually, there are more fans out there now that have no idea of who Davey Allison was, how good Dale Earnhadt was, and that Richard Petty ever ran a single race (other than the fact that he has 7 championships).

Most fans now-adays are fans of a certain driver "because he is a winner, and everyone else is a loser," or "because my driver is the cutest driver out there." Hardly anyone likes a driver because they can actually drive a really ill-handling car. The fact of the matter is that some drivers and crew have to chase their set-ups, and some have a "perfect" car handed to them week-in and week-out.

I, myself like the old school drivers. Especially the underdogs. Schrader, Elliott, Kenny Wallace are at the tops of my list. Why do I like them? Because they've shown that they are great drivers and can run the most ill-handling car, and still do decent.

It has lost some TV Viewers for sure. BUT actually it has more fans today than 20 years ago. Most tracks have added seating capacity and still sell out year after year. Jeff Gordon has stepped up he has more career Victories than Earnhardt Sr. in 7 less years of Racing!!!. Bad Guy drivers--Tony Stewart-Harvick- and a few others like to bang around!!!!!

ABSOLUTELY. I use to enjoy the races the rivalry the beating and banging... Now it's boring? COT makes me feel like im watching Mclaren racing i dont even know what im looking at. I watch football, basketball and baseball. On commercials i'll check the race out for a minute. If HMS wins at Daytona in Feb I may not even check the race out live and just watch espn highlights of it

No !!
The unfortunate deaths of both men only raised the POPULARITY of this sport we all love !!! I truly believe also that,in my opinion... Dale Jr. helped keep the sport alive and well during those hard times.
With that being said......
