I live in a townhome with my fiance we just got a puppy and the neighbor next to us approached us today swearing and threating to "ring our necks" because our puppy barked last night around 10pm. We appologized for the insident but our neighbor would not back down, he continued to scream profanities and threats. This is the third time he has approached us aggressively. We have only been living here for three months and would hate to move, we are also concerned that contacting police would only increase his rage and aggression towards us. What is the safest option for us; we have already attempted reasoning with him calmly but all he does is scream and make violent threats towards both of us. Everyone else in our neighborhood his wonderful. What is the best way to handle this situation?

That is menacing or even aggravated menacing if the officer wanted to push it. Call the police, If the threats are getting more serious and he is getting madder, he may escalate into violence against you or your pet.
Its a first degree misdemeanor, and if he keeps doing it, it can be a felony.

QUITE OBVIOUSLY IT IS LEGAL TO HAVE A PET IN YOUR TOWNHOUSE/HOME?

THE PERSON (HE/ NEIGHBOR) CAN COMPLAIN TO MANAGEMENT ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT IN NO WAY CAN HE THREATEN YOU.

EVER HEAR ABOUT THIRD TIME IS A CHARM. PUT A REPORT ON HIM FOR THREATS AND INTIMIDATION THEN WHEN HE DOES IT AGAIN, HAVE HIM ARRESTED AND A RESTRAINING ORDER PUT AGAINST HIM.

LIKELY HE WILL KEEP QUIET OR MOVE?

THIS PERSON IS A ROOSTER, PUFFING CHEST, CROWING AND FULL OF HOT AIR. PICKS ON YOU BECAUSE YOU TAKE IT. I WOULD TELL HIM VERY NICELY-
"IT SEEMS LIKE WE HAVE BEEN OVER THIS DISCUSSION BEFORE AND YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I AND MY WIFE ARE NOT TAKING ANY MORE FROM YOU. YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM MY LAWYER, END OF CONVERSATION, HAVE A GOOD DAY."

If he is threatening you, you should contact the police. Then the next time he complains your puppy is barking, I would complain he is making too much of a ruckus and exciting your dog. No one should threaten you.

A crossbow with a night scope works best.

Hopefully your puppy is going to grow up to be a large large dog.

Perhaps you just need to be patient.

Take out a restraining order. Also find out if he has a criminal record.
