She wants not a solitaire ring but some kind of ring with a bunch of little diamonds set into the top of a band; like a wedding band, but with a bunch of little diamonds along the top.

Is she confused, or am I? Because I can't seem to find one like this.

Look for channel-set, eternity, or five-diamond rings.

Bring her to the mall (chances are there's a jewelery store in there with lots of rings). Walk by casually and see if she mentions anything. If she does, ask her if she would like a closer look at some of the stuff. If she wants to, chances are she will fall in love with one and you will know exactly what she wants. If she doesn't say anything, distract her with showing her necklaces or earrings, maybe even hinting at buying her one of those. With this, you can get an idea of the styles she likes, which can make it a lot easier to choose a ring. Make sure that someone from the store is helping you, and notices what she likes so that you can come back later or the next day without your girlfriend being there. =)

I've also seen pictures where there are 'arms' that come up from the band and almost meet at the center stone. These arms have diamonds all the way up too.

Have it custom made then. Find an independent jeweler who can do the work for you. One of my best friends had her engagement/wedding rings custom made, and they're beautiful. And, no one else has them!!!

If you/she cant find one have one made. A good place to have one made that i know of right off hand is robbins bros. I dont knwo if there is one where you live but check it out. They are great with working with you to make your ring.

see if she can find a picture in a magazine or ad or online for you to reference.
it sounds like she wants an eternity band, or a pave setting.

deffinatly get clarity or ask her to come with you to shop so you can make sure to get the right one

Look for diamond eternity or semi-eternity bands.

I don't think that finding the ring is the problem.
