Well in two weeks I'll be turning 18 and I just got a call from military recruiter wanting to come visit me and tell me about the military and since there's a war going on when I sign the draft card or whatever it is will they pull me out of high school while the war is going on and take me to boot camp and deploy me? or they won't pull me out until after high school since the recruiter asked me what are your plans after high school? By any chance does anyone know when the war will end? also I have asthma and I have ADD I heard that you can't go into the military if you have asthma

If you had asthma past the age of 12 you are disqualified I believe.
There is no draft and they will not pull you out of high school. To get in you need a minumum of a GED but a high school diploma is prefered. You will need to register with sss.gov.
I wouldn't worry you aren't going anywhere.

First of all, you dont fill out a draft card, at 18 you sign up for selective service. If you have asthma, it is most likely that you wouldnt be accepted into the military but necessarily. Either way, the only way to get into the military is to sign up on your own; you have to make the decision. No one can or will force you to join. If you do not want to meet a recruiter all you have to do is tell them you arent interested when they call.,

There is not currently a draft going on, so you don't need to worry about being pulled out of high school and sent overseas.

The military recruiters wants to talk to high school students just like college recruiters want to talk to them... to give them a sales pitch to join up. Some people find military service after high school a good fit for them; some don't. If you do talk to him, go in with your eyes open and ask questions.

Honestly, don't high school kids have to take a government course in order to graduate. This question just goes to show the sad state that our education system is in. An almost 18 year old man, and he does not know that there has not been a draft in this country since the 70's. This is sad people.

There's no draft right now, so you can't be forced to serve. The military is all-volunteer, and it's likely to stay that way for the time being. The recruiter probably just wants to convince you to join the military after high school. Listen to what he or she has to say, but don't feel pressured to join (and remember that half the stuff they tell you is a lie anyway).

I don't think they will. You can't be pulled into the military unless there is a draft which would likely have to be announced. As for your asthma and ADD you need to let them know.

No Draft, you have to volunteer if you want in. If you want in you must find a doctor saying that you do not have asthma, as for the ADD. DON'T tell them if you want in. I have it and was diagnosed with it when i was in third or fourth grade. I am now 30 years old and have been proudly serving for 11+ years.

Where do you live?

As there isn't a draft in the U.S. you must not live there.

The US has an all Volunteer Armed Forces. No Draft, No conscription.

Did you volunteer in your country? Or can you be drafted? Ask the recruiter.

Military service is voluntary. No one is going to forcefully remove you from anywhere. There is no draft. At 18, you are legally requite to register with Selective Service. They will put your name on a long list just in case it is needed. Instead of trying to find ways out of public service, you should investigate all possible opportunities to contribute as a soon-to-be voting citizen. Two years of public service is the least all Americans can complete.

Relax, Andy. Unless you volunteer, you won't be taken. Signing up for the draft is not the same as enlisting in the military. Don't sign anything from a recruiter. If he calls again, hang up.
