what is the difference in women and men prisons

i work at an all Male Facility not a max unit the difference is just basically women Inmates are placed in one unit and Male Inmates at a different unit both Male and Female Units have both Male and Female Correctional Officers. so it's just a Inmate seperation situation in which is the difference basically

usually men are in the men prisons and women are in the women prisons...
