Last week I started a very rigourous workout schedule that I stuck to. Every other day I did Leslie Sansone's 4 mile walk, and on the off days I did her 1 mile walk, plus her firming video. I did that for 7 days straight, then starting this Monday I haven't done a single video, but also haven't been eating. Had a bad time in a custody battle and just havent felt up to even getting out of bed...but I'm also not eating. So far every day I've eaten a fat free pudding pack, plus either mashed potatos or refried beans (about a cup).
Should I be losing some weight like this? I know I need to eat more and move more, I did get up and take a shower today which was an improvment....but should any weight have been lost? I haven't put on 'real clothes' yet...im hoping theyre a bit loose when I do.

I know I'm probably depressed, I just had a stranger tell me when I can and cant see my children and there is nothing I can do about that. I didn't plan on not eating, but I figured since I'm not at least I hope I lose a few inches. I cant tell that I have though, I was just wondering if I should be losing inches. Healthy or not, that's not the issue. I know it's not healthy and my kids come back to me Monday afternoon, I'll be forced to get up and eat because they will not see me like this.

Actually you are truly not loosing any weight just starving yourself. Not eating does not seem to be the problem here, it seems to be that you are depressesed. My dad put my mom through the same thing and she lost like 30 punds because she just never felt like eating. If your body does not want food you cant force your body to take it. Just take a deep breathe and go see a shrink.
hope you feel better soon

I recommend aiming for a more normal schedule, complete with proper food (including fruits and veggies, healthy stuff) and whatever exercise makes you feel healthy. I'm not familiar with the exercise program you mentioned, but it's probably okay.
As for whether you'd lose weight or not from this week, the answer is maybe. However, I've read that if you lose weight by not eating very much, the weight that you lose first is muscle, not fat. Thus, you lose your muscle mass that lets you do stuff while being as unhealthy/more unhealthy than before. Time to get back into gear. If you're in Canada (as this is the Canada site) and into winter now, some fresh air (even though it's cold) and sunshine might do you a lot of good (helps the mood, too, although the first getting out there can be tough).

You should of lost a lot of weight in that time and I don't mean thats good the best way to loose weight is exercise not starvation. this is clearly a case of depression. get out there just take a walk around the block or something see the world again just get out of the house. sorry about the custody battle going sour. I wish you all the best in that area.

No, you wont be losing lot of weight this way cause your brain might be telling your body to beware cause you might be in an alarming situation where you cant get food. Therefore, your body will be using all your muscles to be transformed to energy for your everyday activities. You should know that we need our muscles cause the more muscles you have, the more fat you burn easily. It is the fat that should be burned to get energy, not muscles. So do exercise but also take good balanced food. That way, your body would get good nutrients and you can shed those pounds away easily. Also try to keep away from beans and potatos. No good if you are trying to loose weight. Instead, eat lot of salad, fruit, tuna and white meat (chicken and fish)...not fried but steamed or grilled. Good luck!!

i think what you are battling isn't about weight right now, is about a problem you have about self esteem. your methods a bit too harsh too your body, its too sudden. you need to make a realistic goal, like walking every day about 30-45 minutes. do one thing at a time. you can either walk today or do the video, you are putting so much on yourself, and you also not eating you might collapse, its dangerous. you need gradually lose weight. your organs won't shut down without food. you need eat healthy food, more small meals. dramatic fast weight lose will come back when you start to eat anything.

Okay, it is good that you are losing weight, (if your pleasantly plump) but if you weigh less than 120, you are totally fine. And you have to eat. It's a way of life. If you are not eating you are not being healthy. So it's your choice. If you want to be healthy and skinny, eat but eat right. If you want to be skinny but not really healthy, than keep doing what your doing. But I'd rather be healthy and skinny for the most part, lol.

Your body will play tricks on you when you are overstressed. you might think you should have dropped 30 lbs, but in fact you gained 10. If you keep your exercise consistent you will loose the weight, as well as reduce the stress!! And eating will also help get over the stressful situation.

aright, i think that if your weight makes you unhappy, then lose weight, do wahtever. Just uh don't not eat for over like 4 days, now thats not good. And if you don't feel like exercising that day then to keep your cycle going at the pace you want it to, not eating will balance it, but it's not good to do so unless you know what you're doing. Like you know you're just doing it for that one day and not for a week.....but yeah just keep waht you're doing and maybe add a lil somethign to it, don't just keep your mind on wightloss do other things. Things that make you happy.

I think you overworked your body and now your body's rebelling. If you want to lose weight properly, you need to exercise regularly and eat regularly. It means that you will need to do some form of cardio and strength training at least 3-4 times a week, and around 1 hour for each session. It's better if you vary your work out, so for example, on Monday, you will walk for four miles. On Tuesday, you will do strength training on your upper body. You rest on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, you walk again for a few miles. Skip Friday, then take up Strength training on Saturday. Then start all over again on Monday.
Now, food wise, it's helpful that you eat a combination of some carb/protein/vegetables or fruits for each main course. You don't have to eat three big meals a day. Snacking in between each meal will help curb your appetite. You can have breakfast with omelet such as egg and tomato/mushroom with a glass of milk or orange juice. Or having a toasted whole wheat bread with nut butters (I prefer almond butter) will keep you filled. According to studies, having egg for breakfast does keep you filled up longer. Protein usually does that to you. And yes, having breakfast each day helps to tame your hunger so you don't over eat later on. You can then snack on yogurt, if you like, or pudding. Then for your lunch and dinner, again, combine some sort of grain like whole wheat pasta/brown rice, with some protein like chicken/fish/beef, and some vegetables. Don't forget to add fruits to your diet. I like banana because it's easy and convenient to consume, but you can vary your fruits and vegetables as well. If you consistently work out and eat these meals, you will eventually lose weight.
The important thing to remember is that there is no quick fix for losing weight. If you want to keep your weight off, you will have to keep on exercising and eating regularly for the rest of your life. It's a life long process. Of course you can eat junk food here and there, but the important thing is to enjoy in small amount and then continue with your healthy exercise and eating habits. And don't worry about counting calories or eating fat free stuff. You can eat them, of course, but don't be obsessed with them. And i don't advocate eating all unhealthy stuff like trans fat (made with partially hydrogenated oils). Just add healthy fat like olive oil, nuts, avocado.
Remember that your body is precious. It's the only body you have. By taking good care of it, your body will support you in your every day activities.
If you still need help, I suggest seeing a registered dietitian who can help design your meals. Seeing a trainer will also help you the right kind of exercise that fits your schedule/interest.
