Read some posts indicating that the 60 has issues with the controller loosing the signal, and that the ps2 game play is not as good as it is on the 80. Post also stated that the bluetooth and wifi components in the 60 are not as upto date as the 80's are, also that the 60 was the first, so most of the bugs they worked out in the 80. I reside in Canada, so ps3 in that region I am reffering to. Please help as I only have a few days to decide. Thank you.

Also on the box for the 60 it says that dual shock controllers are not compatible with it.

Ok thanks for all that information, I feel more comfortable making a decision. Backwards compatibility isn't really a big issue for me, as the last console I played was N64, so I really don't know any games. Also it sounds like as the programers update software etc. backwards compatibility on the 80 will improve. Since B/C is not an issuee for me I'll go with the 80 as they give 3 free games for 499+tx and the 60 is 539+tax including only the console and one controller. Please make any comments you feel helpful. Thank you.

Whoever gave you that info is most likely a 360 fanboy who doesn't know what he's talking about. That's the problem with public forums. Too many people who don't know what they're talking about pretending to know what they're talking about. Some people do make mistakes, which is no big deal, and then there are people who have no idea what they're talking about.

To begin with, I've never had any problems with the Sixaxis losing signal except when the rechargeable battery went dead.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi components are the same on both the 60 and 80 gb.

The gameplay is the same on both systems since the hardware is the same for both systems. That's like saying 2 identical PC have different displays. The harddrive is not going to improve the gameplay except maybe make it run faster, but since both versions have a hard drive, it's not going to matter.

The only thing you have to decide between the 60 and 80 gb is whether or not backward compatibility is important to you. If you must have a system that can play almost all PS2 games, then go with the 60 gb version. It has the emotion engine, which was used to run PS2 games. The 80 gb uses software emulation for backward compatibility, so as of now, it doesn't have as many playable PS2/PSX games as the 60 gb, but as programmers work on it, more and more games will be playable on the 80 gb.

I have had no issues with my 60GB PS3 since I bought mine, and my PS3 was a launch console.

My PS3 bluetooth controller doesn't have issues with loosing the signal or anything like that.

Also, the 60GB PS3 has the best backwards compatibility not the 80GB PS3. The 80GB PS3 is the console that can't play as many PS1 and PS2 games not the 60GB.

As far as the Wifi components being more up-to-date in the 80GB PS3, I'm not sure, but it probably is. I mean, the 80GB PS3 came out more than 6 months after the 60GB PS3 came out, so I'm sure that Sony could have upgraded the WiFi a little bit. But I have the 60GB PS3 and my WiFi works just great and I get a good wide range.

If I were you, I would get the 60GB PS3 because of its full backwards compatibility with nearly all PS1 and PS2 games. I know that this might sound silly but ,the 60GB PS3 is more "rare" and is more "collectable". Only a several million of the 60GB PS3's were sold and they aren't going to be made again, and I would definantly get that one. The 60GB PS3 may be worth nothing in 30-40 years, but you just never know.

And to just give you a little bit of proof that the 60GB PS3 is more desired, just go to Amazon.com and search for brand new 60GB PS3's. They are selling for $600+ dollars. I even saw one 60GB PS3 that was selling for almost $700! Private sellers know that the 60GB PS3 is more rare and that's why they are jacking up the price on them.

1. No problems with controllers losing signal - wrong info

2. True, 60GB/20GB PS3 have the best backwards compatibility - Right info

3. All PS3s uses blue tooth 2.0 and a strong Wi-Fi (except for 20GB) connection - Wrong info

4. Bugs? If there is any bugs in the 60GB PS3, firmware updates handle it - Wrong info

5. 60GB PS3 is the best PS3

6. The only thing that the 40GB/80Gb PS3 have over the 60GB is that the 40/80's cell processor will use less energy, which will produce less heat, helping keep the fan quieter, and keep the electric bill a tad bit smaller.

Also, about the Dual Shock 3 not being compatible with the 60GB... That doesn't make sense. I got my 60GB back in July of 2007 and somewhere around there, Sony stopped making the 60GB model. The announcement of the Dual Shock 3 came after they discontinued the 60GB, so that doesn't fit in with what the "box" says. Also, these controllers are blue tooth man, more so, it has nothing to do with the console being compatible with it, its more on the lines if the game is compatible with it. But, many developers are coming out with patches that will allow of older games to have the rumble feature. - Wrong info (about 60GB version not being compatible with the Dual Shock 3).
