She is a permanent resident with no work history in the US. What type of health insurance and benefits apply to her? Will she be eligible for Medicare/Medicaid benefits? I was wondering if there is anybody out there with the same experience. How did they deal with any medical problems. How do I start the process?

You can't. She's going to be a cash payer.

Medicare is for people over 65, who've paid enough in to the social security system, to be eligible for social security benefits. She's paid in nothing. She's not going to be eligible, even after she turns 65.

Medicaid is effectively welfare health insurance. Generally, when you become a permanent resident, someone must "sponsor" you who guarantees to pay for these sort of things, so you don't collect welfare. Most of the time, you're not eligible for "welfare" benefits of any kind for a minimum of five years. As it varies by state, you might not EVER qualify.

Private health insurance isn't available to someone at her age, and it's not available to someone with no verifiable medical history (read, here in the US for the first time). Unless she gets a job with an employer that will provide her with access to group coverage, she's going to be uninsured.

She could always try to buy a health policy "there" before she comes over here.

She wouldn't be eligible for Medicare even if she were 65, because she hasn't paid into the system.

You might be able to find a policy for her if she's in good health. But be forewarned that the premiums will be very expensive due to her age.

Otherwise, she may have to look into seeking employment somewhere that will provide group health benefits to her.

You need to work for 10 years before becoming elgible for medicare. The only way for her to get medicare would be if she paid the entire premium, possibly. The Part A premium alone is $420 per month.

Tracy H. is suitable. Medicaid is assume to be for babies who have not got coverage. you're in certainty paying two times to have your babies coated. a million) by utilising identifying to purchase coverage and then 2) by utilising paying taxes to pay for Tenn Care. Now asserting this. A dumb question is does the mum understand you have the youngsters coated and does she understand the thank you to get entry to it? If Tenn Care has as many limitations as Texas Medicaid or CHIP (babies insurance right here) has right here in Texas i do no longer think of she is intentionally attempting to stay clear of utilising your coverage. i'm of direction in simple terms assuming. right here in Texas it may particularly be extra of an attempt for her to apply Medicaid extremely of a private coverage organization.

Lloyd's of London (and I'm sure a few others too) have a program designed specifically for this situation.
