You need to hurry up home, so that you can plan your own wedding. Of course, that will only work if you are not already married. LOL

Depending on the bride and groom, probably the best thing to do is just say that you can't stay, you had a great time, and you wish them the best.

If for some reason you feel obligated to be there (such as you are the groom or brides sister), bite the bullet and stay the night.

If you feel the need to go and feel you have to lie about it, I've always found the more specific the lie the better.

There is a prescription medication called Cyclobenzaprine. It is the generic name for a muscle relaxer. I have seen it prescribed for all kinds of "general" ailments such as menstral cramps, to relieve muscle cramps, whiplash, and to treat sports injuries to the muscles (like you pulled a muscle) to name a few. If there is a reason for muscle pains, chances are this drug has been prescribed for it. The drug makes you very sleepy and mixing it with alcohol makes it much worse.

So what's the excuse?

Just tell the bride and groom that you injured your playing , moving a couch at home, lifting something heavy in your basement, or if you are prone to terrible menstral cramps, that is a good reason as your friend would probably recall your history with it (just make up something realistic that might cause muscle pain). It is a minor injury, but the doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer for it (Cyclobenzaprine). The pill makes you very drowsy and mixing it with booze makes it a ton worse.

Then you can go on to elaborate a little more. Possible justifications:

1. If you drink a lot, say that you have to take a pill and don't want to be tempted by the booze, so you thought it be best if you went home.

2. Just say that the pill makes you sleepy for a few hours and don't want to risk driving home once you took it.

Wish the bride and groom the best. Tell the bride she is beautiful, and leave.

I found this to be a great excuse because Cyclobenzaprine is a common drug, it is true that it can knock you out, mixing it with alcohol makes things much worse, and there are a million common reasons for muscle strains, tears, or cramps.

yeah, why would you attend someone's wedding if you're not really into it and you plan to leave early, that might offend the newly wed couple, might as well not attend at all, you really dont feel like to begin with...there are a lot of excuses, one could be "i just got a phone call from my neighbor, and they thought that a burglar just broke a window, trying to get in my house, got to go! oh congrats and best wishes!, may u live happily ever after!"

I would just let them know in advance that you can't stay for the entire time. This way, it's already taken care of and you do not have to lie your way out of it. Don't forget about that lovely thing called Karma!!!

1) I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well and I need to get home
2) I need to get home to the kids (if you have them)
3) I need to get home and let the dogs out (if you have them).
4) I need to work in the morning.
