The ceremony itself can be anywhere from 10 minutes to and hour and a half (I know... yikes!! But trust me, I've been to a catholic wedding that had a full mass and everything, and it went on for ages...)
As for the reception, I've been to ones where it was just cocktails and hors d'oevres, and some mingling after the ceremony with some toasts... that lasted about 1.5 hrs... and then I've been to some that had a full reception with sit-down dinner, followed by long speeches, followed by a dance with DJ service for 4+ hours...
You are by no means expected to stay for the entire thing... so don't feel rude, if you're not someone who can stay up late mingling with people you hardly know...
To give you an example:
For my wedding, the ceremony itself was approximately 35 minutes... we had three couples who only came for the ceremony, as they had a flight to catch for a business meeting, or kids to get home to, or a family celebration that conflicted... they let us know before hand, when they RSVPd, so that we knew not to pay for a dinner for them, which was nice of them. We were fine with it, and just really happy to have them be a part of our ritual of binding our lives together (which is more important than the reception, obviously).
We then had a light cocktail reception for the guests going on while we snuck away for 1.5 hours with our wedding party to take pictures...
Then we had a sit-down dinner with some toasts given in between the courses (Salad/Hubby's mom spoke, then Soup/Maid of honour spoke, then main course/ Best man spoke and my dad spoke, then during dessert/ we each made a short speech).... we have a number of people bow out after we cut the cake (right after dinner)... they just came up and congratulated us, told us everything was fantastic, and let us know that they had to run... it was all really nice...
Then we had dancing and games, and a late night table, and a whole lotta drinking (lol!), and people left throughout the night... some of the hard core people were still there when we said good night at 1:00am... (wedding ceremony was at 3:00pm), but that was only a handful of close friends and some of my crazy aunts...
So yeah... you can bow out whenever you feel comfortable! Just be sure to thank the bride and groom, tell them how beautiful everything was, and congratulate them, and I'm sure they will be very pleased that you came to share in their "big day"
Hope this helps!
(sorry it turned into a novel... lol!)

Between 10 minutes and 2 hours. Depends on the wedding.

Well, a wedding length depends on the wedding itself. For most, the ceremony lasts from 10 minutes to 1 hour(for mass), then there may be a cocktail hour in between, and as for the reception it could be from 1 hour to four hours. So it really depends.

How long do you want it to last?
The actual ceremony can last from 7 minutes (Olympic record is a few seconds) to a good hour.
Then there is the celebration, the reception. It used to go on for several days but now it's only a few hours.
So you see, since it's your wedding, you can have it as long as you want.
Good luck planning.

Our ceremony was 20 minutes. Our reception party started at 3:30pm and most guests left around 9pm-9:30pm as a lot had young children and it was way past their bed time. Our family stayed til after midnight having fun with us!
