I am a Japanese.
Unlike English,In Japan there are various expressions to say I love you .
Simply, not a few boys say SUKIDA ,most girls say SUKIDESU.
just only 1 word

In fact in Japan "aisiteiru" is seldom used.
Suki seems regarded as "like" ,it's true, but it also means "love you from the bottom of one's heart" .Did you know?

"aishiteru(あいしてる)" is a common translation of "I love you".Both males and females can use it.
"suki(好き)" is more frequently used by couples in love and it means "I like you".
