so im going to join the army
i passed my physical fine but am just waiting for one paper to come in to get my MOS

also i am doing the split op program

i passed my asvab with an 82 :)

now, i know most jobs are open to me, but i really like combat engineer and a tank crew man, any other suggestions

after high school, should i activate? or stay in the reserves and get a couple of years of college in me and become an officer?

if i go into college, is ROTC worth it?

any other suggestions of where i should go, what i should do?

Im a 21B combat engineer and I love it. We get to blow stuff up and are very good at it. We call ourselves infantry with a skill.

I enlisted in the Iowa Guard as a Combat Engineer split op. (Demo is Cool)

While in the Guard I did ROTC and it worked out well.

I finished college and was allowed to go Active (as a MP)

I deployed a few times and got a masters degree.

The best thing is that because I enlisted at 17 into the guard all the time I was in high school and College counts for pay.

So I am paid for having 12 years while my peers have 7 years (because ROTC does not count if your not in the Guard or Reserve and west point never counts) the time does not count for an Active retirement but it does toward pay.

I got taught all about this in school today. I can't remember the exact figures but the EU has more men and of course the British, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Estonian, and other EU countries' armies are very developed and some of the best in the world. The only country that could outrank them individually is the US, but as the EU the Europeans I think are slightly stronger. The EU hasn't got it's own army however, and if the US and EU went to war I think at the moment the US would win because the EU armies aren't under a central command and they'd be less organised and effective in a war. However if the EU managed to successfully unite and fall under a central command the EU would win a war against the US. Obviously this is unlikely to ever happen since the US and Europe are in NATO together and are very strong allies against other enemies. So overall, the US Army could win a war against any country in the world, but a united EU might just be able to win. And I'm British btw.

I'm a Army ROTC cadet at The University Of Cincinnati and if your main goal is to be an officer then you should go ROTC or a service academy. in ROTC or a service academy you can not be deployed at anytime while in college. if you go guard or reserve, you can Simultaneous Military Participation Program (SMP) which means you are a cadet and in the reserves or guard. if contracted with ROTC, you will be paid by ROTC and the reserves. If you have any other questions i can hook you up with information or give you a number to contact. my email is Hubbarcs@yahoo.com

Well you can always due college while active its just a little harder than if you were resrve. But if you want to mainly focus on school then reserves will be good. Its all on you, but any decision you make will be a good one because you will be a proud & honorable member of the armed forces.

If you can stay ROTC and receive your commission. You will be very marketable if you ever decided to leave the service. I was a tank platoon leader and really enjoyed the time spent with my crew and the field exercises

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but if you activate, you'll have to pay back a portion of your reserve bonus. I have a soldier going through that right now.

Education, whether civilian or military will always benefit you. It is important when starting a career to stay focused. Don't allow distractions to alter your goals.
