on Shia-Sunni? Those who are really interested to know could search for it. We have already had so many discussions about it here at Y/A. If someone is really interested then come up with a really different question in this regard.

OR ELSE Sunnis and Shias they better write one answer on this topic and save it with them and everytime just copy paste it, because its really tiring to have the same questions again and again.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waste of 5 points, the debate will go on until imam Al-Mehdi appears. Shia will believe only when the sun rises from the West.

Shia means 'faction' in Arabic, and factions part from the mainstream. Islam is not based on crying over dead people, Islam is based on the Message and life of Mohammad aleihi salam.

At least me and some other users here never called to unity with the Shia but Shia were misleading you with unity calls while in fact they hate you and consider you misguided, and they just want to convert you to Shiism. No unity with sects, but all Shia are welcome to join Ahl El-Sunna.

Allah Ta'ala said so: Lo! As for those who sunder their religion and become Shia, no concern at all hast thou with them. Their case will go to Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do. (6:159)

Perhaps this may not be the format to discuss the many divisions that now exists between the Muslims. As this was foretold by the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu 'alaihi wa sallam). But indeed these matters do exists, and they have encroached in many of the different lands where the Muslims are great in numbers.Whereas many converts become frustrated because the need for unity amongst the Muslims is great, and the hope for resolution for the good of the whole is clear. But this is the life of this world, and it does not resemble the promise of the Hereafter that Allah has promised. So Tawheed makes things clear, and those that have abandoned it have divided themselves. So we seek refuge in Allah from being of those that have divided themselves into sects-ameen.

There is more tolerance over differences now, but, there is also a tremendous lack of Theological knowledge. Few people these days know much about religion at all. You can certainly see that in here - even the basic ideas are foreign to many people. That would not have happened in past years.

You are right sister, this seems to be a common discussion on here... good grief! Shouldn't the focus be on how to be better Muslims instead of trying so hard to cause division? Very discouraging to see for a new convert like myself.

Edit: I get your point Obaidullah - thanks! btw, I am a sunni muslim and have no intention of switching over to the Shia camp - Ever! Too much innovation for my taste.

But to each his own beliefs and responsibility thereof, only Allah (swt) decides who is a true believer on the Day of Resurrection.

I agree, YA is not the best place to discuss theses things, specially that most people here don't have enough knowledge about that complicated topic.

Most of the questions asked about it are just for attacking and creating doubts and fitnah, not learning.

I second you, sister. There's a lot things to talk about other then this schism between Shiah and Sunni.

To me, this disagreement is the picture people who can't get over the past, always moving backwards instead of stepping ahead.

The Muslims are already behind in terms of education and social refine, why don't we address this matter and united in solving it rather then squabbling over history.
Allah help me, to those whose unsatiable need for hot words, don't you people know that enough is enough?

has anybody heard about Zakir NAik and his lectures on Islam? he says that the muslim religion is 1 and there are no sub-units of islam, so no pointing fingers to anyone and saying "sunni" or "shiah", we are all one, after all, we do believe in one Allah, and live by his ways..
