For a teenager it would have to be front wheel drive with a four cylinder naturally aspirated stock engine and a manual transmission. Put them in a new car if possible as people tend to prefer new cars and the new cars are safer in a crash (since they are stronger, despite what some ignorant people who don't understand that new cars are designed to crush in an accident will tell you).
Maybe not their idea of fun but they're less likely to kill themselves then they are in a real wheel drive vehicle (where losing control results in you completely spinning out and recovery takes skills very few people actually have).
A car that you spin around a tree isn't exactly much fun.

If you limit it to the fun factor, yep, the 5.0 Mustang. That's one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned. I liked the older bodystyles, mine was a 1989 (years ago). HOWEVER, I don't want my 16-year-old driving one. That's too much car for too little experience.

I see all these Mustang answers and I am wondering where they get that major cash (at least for a beginner car). Madzas are very interesting and have a definitive style to them. For a teenager, take a Madza 3, they have acceptable reliability and should be fun to drive, and are not too ugly.
