well there's this guy at my school. we are 8th graders. hes pretty popular. i'm inbetween. me and him have a few classes together. and we did cross country and r doing track. he always tells me how good i am at cross country. then in track i'm better at him in some things and he's better than me but he still compliments me. we always joke around and talk alot. and he teases me alot. we say hi to each other in the halls. is he just a friendly person or do u think he likes me? something i notice alot like when i talk to guys from other cc teams he asked why r u talking to them they're from the other team. i just know those guys i talk to from various places. and also u know how popular people guys/ girls always give hugs to each other. but they aren't actually going out. do guys usually start hugging the girls or like how does that work.. should i start being the hugging type of person or is that a little to gushy?
and if u answer please dont say ask him yourself.

thank u so much!

most of the time we girls are always putting meanings to the kindness and concerns a boy's showing with us. wait until he finally confess to you. don't expect anything to him.this is the reason why we are so easy to fall inlove because we think that they like us ... it's natural to a man to be gentleman always think of it. and ofcourse he will asked you why are you talking with the boys of the "OTHER" team right?

I'd dump him asap. If he likes another girl and she him, WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? Real love doesn't play games or have wandering eyes, it's committed and hard work. You MUST see this as a red flag, a deal breaker, strike three. Your young, i'm guessing, you shouldn't even be considering a SERIOUS relationship that is going to cause you insecurity. Have fun, don't become overly invested in this, WHAT? you can't flirt? Move on, the writing is on the wall and it spells trouble. Do yourself a favor and cut the guy loose, if it is destined to be, it will run it's course and he'll be back. But why you would take him back only you can answer.

I hate the "I dont know if he likes me as a friend or more feeling" Well i would see if he touches your shoulder of knee. Or if he looks at you alot in class. If he asks you why you are talking to guys form the other team say " because they are cute it will throw him off if he likes you. you should not hug him randomly but if you see him for the first time is like a month than I would. Good Luck with that!

Get a book on body language. Don't overdo it, but there are ways of sending subtle messages. Playing with your hair to draw attention to your face, standing slightly within his personal space, an occasional touch on the hand, arm or side. Be careful not to do this to other guys you talk with or you'll send the message that you're just a flirt. Notice there are signs of interest and disinterest, and use them wisely. Crossed arms, head turned toward a person but body turned so it isn't facing them, leaning away--these are signs of disinterest. Use these when he sees you talking to other guys. He may send nonverbal cues too, so pay attention to whatever they may be.

And then there's the backward glance and smile as you're walking away. You're in eighth grade, and what you learn now will serve you well for some time to come.

I'm in eleventh grade and I hug and high five guys all the time. In junior high it is nothing really unless he talks to you around his friends or you hang a lot. Not necessarily alone or anything but at meets. Like by yourself at the meets, if you get my drift. Do you talk a lot? Like in the halls and around his friends. But it is sometimes just a junior high thing. When you get around boys more and in High School it changes. But i have been around the block and that is nothing new. It might be in your case, I don't know though. It is different with every guy.

I think that this is a budding friendship, and that there is potential for more to develop. You have to take it one step at a time, get to know each other first. Don't rush him other wise u might end up pushing him away. When u get to know each other really well, then hugging will seem only natural. Don't force it. Just continue to be yourself around him. ;-)

He sounds like he might like you, but u gotta be careful wit those popular guys. lol. Also, if you're comfortable with it, go ahead and hug him. I'm not terribly popular at my school, but i still hug my guy friends often. Go for it! Good luck. (oh, and guys don't always do the hugging, actually usually the girl starts it. lol)

it sounds like he is at the least interested in you. and hugging is okay, i know that all the kids at my daughters school do stuff like that. why dont you ask one of your friends to maybe do a little detective work to see if he likes you? good luck :)
