I have seen the smoky kind mentioned in the first comment. These are very common.
I've also seen the light orb looking kind. It was blue, which from what I know is a little different.
I've also heard this ghost in my old house rather extensively. There were apparitions in the house too, but I never decided if it was a trick of the brain or not. HOWEVER, the sound was unmistakable. It was a breathing noise in the basement that came from no where and everywhere all at once. Everyone who went down there heard it as plain as day, and the skeptical had some interesting theories as to a "piratical" explanation, which were of course proven wrong in me and my brother's extensive examination of the basement. We never found a source for the sound in all our years of wonder concerning the ghost. The sound always came equally from every direction.
Here's where my atheist friends always get their panties in a bunch: One day, I decided to see if I could pray the ghost in my basement away. So I did, and the VERY MOMENT I said "amen", the sound stopped abruptly and we have not heard it in almost 10 years. My brother was a witness to this act as well.

I've 3 different types experiences
First one is like brilliant white mystic figure.... kinda shapeless, when it appears there is a feeling an energitic sensation, I dont know how to express in words..... it only last couple of seconds. I've seen this a lot of times.
2nd is Im feeling some kind of very strong presence passing behind me often. Never seen it or had any sensation.....
And the 3rd one, I think it was a demon! Its a black 6 foot thing I dont remember the face or anything...... this one frightend me to the core!!!

I believe that a disembodied spirit is actually a demon. No matter what form it takes to appear to you.
Here's my list:
1. My great grandma
2. A little boy
3. Legs
4. Swirling black shapes
5. Cloaked shadow figure
6. Shadows
7. Bright swirley lights
Mostly they didn't "appear" it was just smells, noises, and temperature changes.

I saw what I think are called orbs. I got a feeling of "Pure energy" then these white ball things floated across the room. Once a saw a black one-this I think was a demon.
The last one I saw came right at my face then it went up to the ceiling. After that I prayed to God to either help me understand what they were if they came from him or to not let me see them again. I haven't seen them now in many years!
I am not a nut-lol.

As a real person, just like you would pass on the street. The only difference is he disappeared.

Em.... Is exactly right, God set a boundary between the dead and the living. As the rich man in the Bible could not communicate with his living ancestors. Demons however know who you are and all about your dead ancestors, and they can give you any lie you wish to hear. Sorry but once a soul has left it's earthly body, it is in eternity, be it Heaven, or a place of sleep till Jesus return.

I have only seen one, it was kinda like smoke, see through ,and only lasted a few seconds.
