judgemental or reactionary.
But so many christians today are.
I read so many questions and answers that say that they are trying to live their life like Jesus, but I cant tell.
Division is a major problem in this world today.
The church is suppossed to be the one place that "all are welcome and come as you are"
What's up, people?
A Spiritual experiance cannot always be expressed with words, alot of it comes from deeds and actions.
Please allow God to do what God does and if you witness,
witness with Love not judgement and condemnation.
Ok, I know I didnt really ask a question, but I am speaking with humility. Even if you feel reactionary to what I said can you say it with Love?
Oh Wait, I did ask a question lol

I have studied religion and philosophy for many years. It's something that has always interested me even when I found my own spiritual path. One thing I have found at the core of it all is LOVE.

Far too often we overlook that parallel teaching that we share and react without love in our hearts, which hurts people.

Thanks for being so swell and asking us to reflect on our actions here in R&S. I agree with others, you are my kinda christian. Mwah. :)

Great post! Thanks for your views, they are provoking to anyone willing to take the time and consider what you've posted.

I agree, Jesus was not judgemental or reactionary. I think of the contrasts that are apparent from some of the posts that others have made and I'd like to comment about a few of them.

First, one post refers to turning over tables, yet leaves out not only the context of the passage, but also the historical context of selling animals for sacrifice that were not without blemish, and that the money-changers were basically robbing people. "Den of theives" is wholly appropriate and might even be a compliment.

Second, when Jesus told the woman at the well (and two others if I remember correctly) to "go and sin no more" that (to me anyhow) shows how we are to show our faith as you have said - through our actions. We can talk a good game, but are we living one?

Now, about what you've said. Sure, there is division. Jesus said that where Christians are, there will be division (gospels). Just don't be the one to cause that division (this is in James and Hebrews).

And I love the come as you are part. HOORAY! You are so correct. I could show up in a suit and tie, but I don't. I come in jeans and a t-shirt, not because I do not have to wear a suit and tie, but because it IS NOT WHO I AM. If I did so, I would be lying to everyone. I don't work in an office, so I don't own a suit, plain and simple.

And I hope I am correct in stating that you think our actions can be witnessing also? If so, I think you are right on target.

If you only believe that God is love than you are worshiping a false god. The God of the Bible is judgmental, vengeful, and angry. He is Holy, Pure, and Most High. There is nothing wrong with righteous judgment. However, if the person that is judging is living a life full of sin then they must first look at themselves. When you preach the Gospel you cannot leave out the part that says "the wages of sin is death" or "all liars will have their place in the lake of fire". There can be no salvation without the recognition and repentance for and of sin. Unfortunately, not many people know this so they go about asking rhetorical questions and making misinformed statements just as you have.

Actually, Jesus was often 'judgmental' in the sense that, as a teacher, He pointed out the flaws and inconsistencies in others' faith. He was quite hard on the Pharisees, scribes and Sadducees, the religious leaders of His time who had perverted the faith for their own ends, and the rich who didn't use their God-given wealth to help others. But He wasn't judgmental about many of the things that they (and we) are and spent much of His time with 'publicans and sinners', the 'unclean' and outcasts because they were humbly aware of their need of God's grace.

I know it's not so in many churches, but I thank God I've found several in my lifetime where people come because they know they're not perfect, because they want to become more like Christ, and who welcome anyone, regardless of background, who have the same attitude and goal.

I couldn't agree more. As I'm sure you know, I am not a religious bunny, but try to live my life by the morals that religious bunny's say they do. I always lend a helping paw, never steal or lie and always look for the good in everyone I meat. I have gay friends, friends of all religions from Christian to Pagan and love all of my friends like family.

But people still say because I do not pray or go to church, that I'm white trash not worthy of a concept. Oh well. I'm glad there are level headed people out there like you.

Keep it up Angie, you're spreading good words about the good word.

When Jesus called religious people hypocrites and told the sinner to "go and sin no more", that was just telling the truth. Although for them they may have thought he was judgmental. Perhaps even turning the tables over and chasing the money lenders out of the temple with a whip was reactionary.

Hey sister:)
You did actually post something that is important for each and every one of us to consider with regard to ourselves when we are here on the forum.
I think its a good habit of looking inwardly before we decide to examine or judge others. Especially when it relates to matters that people generally struggle with. Like our weaknesses our besetting sins or when we are just honest about what we're going through. If we would just put ourselves on our own receiving end then I believe that much of the judgement and rash reactions will probably be curbed... I dunno:)
We can hope.

You're right in what you say though. Our spiritual experience cannot always be expressed with word.. that a lot of it comes from deeds, actions, even our own life experiences and what we have gone through in our own walk with God. HOpefully these experiences show us the most important thing about yourselves....That outside of Christ we are all failures at best and without the Lord we can do nothing.

So to me dear angie.. all we need to do is keep abiding and staying close to the Lord. Let Him regulate us in all that we do and say anywhere we are.

Good post.
Gives us all something to consider

IN Christ

Jesus was Judgmental. He Judged the Pharisees some times we are called to judge but out of love and mercy not out of zeal. If we didn't judge at all the enemy could realy easily intercept our Church and cause lawlessness. There needs to be judgment of some sort. Now to call out people and tell them they are going to hell isn't in our authority unless the Holy Spirit speaks those words out of us which isn't us judging but the Holy Spirit which is His right. I was judged by the Spirit and now I believe. So judgment is called for sometimes but not all the time. Judgment as far as cultural clash is concerned well the problem is the spirit of piety not love. Many churches arn't filled with the Holy Spirit or have their own political agenda not Gods agenda and so thats all they care about.

I agree with you. I think the idea of Christianity is well.. fine, good.. I'm pretty indifferent b/c i'm agnostic. But I see so many people who take their religious beliefs to such an extream that all they are doing is voicing hate and trying to instill fear in others and condemn them. If people just believed what made them feel good and worshiped in whatever way they wanted and accepted others as they were this world would be such a better place.

in case you do no longer have faith, it somewhat isn't any longer that arduous. heavily, we Christians are regrettably brainwashed from the get circulate. you're born, mom and dad take you to church, and before you could communicate, stroll, and understand you have heard one hundred sermons approximately God and Jesus. Take a step returned and seem at it from somebody else's eyes. there is no evidence of God, each and every so often the Bible tells memories that by no ability occurred, many instances our fellow Christians are basically Christians whilst they experience it somewhat is optimal, and Christians have a bad rep with stuffing it down human beings's throats. you could no longer teach to human beings who there is a God and Jesus greater effective than a guy from scripture. The scripture grew to become into written via guy interior the e book which you should realize is slightly a stretch. Your faith keeps you believing and loving, however the individuals you're bearing on have no faith. and that i won't be able to blame them. human beings will ask God to grant them the numbers to win the lottery. Why? Do you have a job? Did you circulate to school? even if it somewhat is which you will no longer arise with the money for why won't be able to you arise with the money for it? IS it when you consider which you made undesirable judgements in existence? possibly it somewhat is right in case you could no longer arise with the money for it to teach others that the path you took grew to become into no longer the main appropriate direction. My very own ideals are that God would not intrude. I refuse to have faith he might enable conflict if he did. I additionally won't be able to have faith he might enable 1 / 4 of a million human beings to be killed via a tsunami if he believed in combating such issues. It couldnt' have been all those human beings's time to circulate. Heaven and Hell, i think of human beings have the incorrect thought. How can i savour somebody's company without physique? i won't be able to hug them, won't be able to see them, pay attention them, etc. So why do i prefer to circulate to Heaven? i think of it somewhat is a concepts set which you're in once you die. The delight of understanding which you lived a sturdy existence.
