If you were flying into Palm Springs, Cal. what is the best & nearest major airport to use?

Palm Springs has commercial air service. I would simply fly directly there. If you don't like commuter aircraft, try Los Angeles, Ontario, or San Diego.

LAX, rent a car drive east 90 miles. You'll need a car anyway.
