It's weird how words change in their meaning over the years. And it's not until you get into studying things like the Bible that you come across things like this. After all, The Bible is written from an ancient language, by a people with different customs, and different figures of speech, in a foreign land, in places that they are still uncovering from centuries of sand.

So what did they mean by 'saved'? In the New Testament they were applying a meaning from the Hebrew tradition, as in:

Exodus 15:2
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my SALVATION. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.

Strong's Number: 03444
yesh-oo'-aw
Definition

1. salvation, deliverance
1. welfare, prosperity
2. deliverance
3. salvation (by God)
4. victory

So it's not that we are saved like a computer program. Well, kinda. But it means so many things other than just not being thrown away. Even our current welfare is being looked after by Him. He cares for those He chooses even now.

Certain Bibles do not have the words 'saved' or 'save'. So it depends on your version.

You will find it all over the New International Version.

The word "saved" occurs 104 times in the Bible.
http://www.apostolic-churches.net/bible/allwords/s.html

It denotes being rescued from law destruction, or
saved from destroying yourself with you own mouth.

God our Saviour will have all men to be saved AND all men aware of what they're saved from: law (1Timothy 2)

Eg: Matthew 24:13 "he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved(graced)"

Eg: John 3:17 "God sent not his Son into the world to condemn(law) the world; but that the world through him might be saved(graced)"

The end to endure unto to be saved(graced) only, is

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

There is no such concept in Judaism as anyone needing to be saved. Nor does Judaism have the concept of Original Sin. All of that is Christian.

If a Christian answers this and tries to give you a "proof" of it from the "old testament" (the Torah), please know that it is a twisted misinterpretation and mistranslation of our Torah by the Church, as we do not and never have had such concepts in the Torah as given to us by God. These concepts are man-made, invented by the Church.

Acts 16:31 is one of many places.Paul told a jailer in Phillipi who asked "What must I do to be saved?" to which he said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved as well as your family".
Saved from what? Sin. We have all sinned and we need a Savior.God demands perfection. We can't be perfect but Jesus was willing to stand in for us and take our punishment. He "saved " us from our sins. Now,all we have to do is accept that fact and thank Him for it.If we sin after that ,I John 1 says "He is faithful and just to forgive us if we ask and are sincere".

Eph 2:8-10 God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this: It is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
