The "Tree of Life" you are referring to is in Genesis 2:9. It is one of two trees (the other being the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil") created by God and placed in the garden of Eden. Both of these trees grew actual edible fruit and represented a choice between goodness and eternal life, and sin and eternal death, respectively.
This same Tree of Life is again mentioned in Revelations 2: 7:
"To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life which is in the paradise of God."
