I'm a 21 female, I live in CA, I have a job making 50,000/yr, and I have an AA degree. I thinking about joining but I guess I need more reasons why I shouldn't join. Is anyone familiar with the Air Force lifestyle please tell me more...

The only reason I can find for you, specifically, is that you have a great-paying job and an AA. Otherwise, I don't see why not.

It's vaguely apparent that you are questioning it because your current living situation isn't enough in terms of life experience. I myself am a 21-year old female in AZ, but I DON'T yet have any kind of degree because I can't afford it. I considered the Air Force because it will change my life for the better and give me benefits in all areas of my life; I will get into the best physical shape possible, my education will be given to me, I will receive other, more advanced training pertaining to my chosen job (tentatively a linguist), I will finally receive the medical attention I've been lacking my entire life, AND I will TRAVEL the world!

The idea of honorably serving my country has been a slow-growing "bug" so to speak, but it has bitten me and I no longer desire to be a civilian. I have been told by people they'd rather steal than join the military, but I am disgusted by such comments.

Those are MY reasons to join; I am constantly finding positive reasons out-weighing the negative, and soon the only thing to do is overcoming actually DOING it. Find good friends to tell you more, and continue your research as I have to find what only you can answer.

there is no reason not to join
many say that you will get killed
well picture this 15,000 die per year in alcohol related accidents
<4000 have died in the war since it started
you do the math

everyone should serve their country some how
not only do you serve this country but you also build team work, leadership..... the list is endless of what the military offers

most say you dont make any money in the military
well, when you join at age 18 and are retired at age 38, have seen the world, have bennifits and a nice fat pension every month then ask them, what have you done with your life? and tell them to have fun working the job they hate, making a wage they can barely survive on untill they are 65

the pay grades are all the same in every branch other than special pay like going to war, special MOS.....
the pay advances on rank

also, others say that the president is just a dumb ***, that may be but it is still America, and is still the greatest on the planet. if you dont like the country, then get the hell out and go over to china or some place and see how you like that

all in all you should join the military at least for a short time

Because you will become an active element in an corporately controlled institution involved in the killing of innocents due to the nature of war and corporate interest. Congress is bought by corporations therefore the military is a corporate tool.

Your mind will be shaped to accept orders without question and your critical thinking will be obliterated.

The fact that you question the decision is reason enough. If you do not want to join then don't. One should have an open mind ready to accept training to succeed is what I say.

Think if you need someone to give you reasons you shouldn't join.

The best reason not to join the Air Force is that, until January 20, 2009, your Commander-in-Chief will be George W. Bush. You'll stand a much better chance of leaving any branch of the service alive and unhurt if you wait until then.

Getting sent to Iraq by Bush and dying in an illegal war for a lost cause. Not getting killed but coming home with brain damage, lost limbs, lost hearing, lost eyesight and receiving very poor medical care and rehabilitative services. The impact the above would have on your family and loved ones.

You should join the Army instead. Better jobs, pay, equipment, etc. Good luck with your decision.

If you aren't sure, don't join. If you haven't been motivated to look into this on your own, without asking us on YA, don't join.
