i agree with all the answers that have been submitted so far.. and to add on to that...so that you can think about and answer this for yourself......
MAKE A LIST OF THE RULES THEY GIVE YOU. THEN, TRY TO ANSWER THE REASON FOR EACH RULE. put it all together and unless you are clueless, you will clearly see that they have good intentions and that MOST OF THOSE RULES ARE PROTECTION RULES-so you don't die in a car crash cause you were riding around "having fun" being wild and careless- or take candy from a stranger that just happened to be one in a million that was a child abductor and will hurt you, SELF MAINTENANCE AND SOCIAL RULES-- such as keeping your room clean so you don't live like a dirty rat, and doing homework so that you're not a complete idiot and you can hold civil conversations with people and have a perspective on life, and having manners so that when you go to a friend's house- they don't talk about what a nasty slob you were at the table, and so that you respect people by saying please and thankyou. and more. i hope you were able to understand some of that.
AND BY THE WAY....did you ever ask them to explain the reasons for their strictness...or the reasons for their rules. ask them, i am sure they would be more than willing to explain themselves.
:D

That is a good thing! These days, we need more strict parents in the world so their children don't grow up to regret the mistakes they made as teens. The more strict, the more they love you.

Because most kids these days are running wild and we need more strict parents. If the kids act the way they do as adults, they could end up dead or prison.

Totally agree with mommy soon's answer!!
Parents are strict because they know much more about the world and how vulnerable you are. They want to see you safe and healthy and grow up strong and capable.

Because you know whats out there in the world, and what it takes to survive, and you want the best for your child. The best doesnt just happen, you have to cultivate it, protect it, and demand it.
You do that as a parent by being strict and consistent.

as a parent i am very strict with my children because i want them to succed in life. i want them to be able to stand on their own 2 feet when thety older. i am strict because i love them i do not want someone to kidnap them, or harm them in any way. whether they see it or not i know what is best for them.
i want them to focus on what really matters in life, not what is cool or what other people think. or allow them to make the mistake by getting pregnant, drugs, etc.
i know where my kids r at at all times, they always have adult supervision.
example my 15 year old son wanted to take his girlfriend to the movies, but did not me or his father as chaperone. i agreed. but little did he know that his grandparents were the chaperones, he has since allowed us his parents to be the chaperones. turns out we r not as strict as he thought.we at least allowed them to sit by each other! lol

They are giving you common sense. Your not born with it so parents have to establish it. The only way to do that is through disipline.

Because they were once your age and they know what you're capable of doing. Plus, you'll know when you do have kids. Trust me, you don't want to have a kid and have them run wild and die or have something else bad happen to them.
